Appearance: pours thick and muddy brown with a scant head
Aroma: sweet malt aroma with a smokey earthy essence
Body: nice thick body

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 13, 2007 NorCal tasting July 07 - Is it possible that no one has rated this beer on BP in over 2 years? Thanks to beerguy101 for bringing this (I think). The beer pours out a deep copper/amberish color, almost zero head (only wisps of foam here and there). Aroma is clearly raisins and figs with a heaping dose of hoppy pineage but there is some subtle brown sugar, caramel and some alcohol. Mouthfeel is sticky, mildly syrupy but solid. Obvious caramel-like sweetness in the flavor department with just enough hops to keep it from being overly one-sided. A nice touch of brown sugar in the finish as well. A really nice b-wine! mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Brown sugar aroma with dark fruit notes. Caramel notes. Malty and dark fruity flavor. Plums, raisins, and fig notes. Finish is sweet. Smooth tasting. Full bodied. Dry tasting. Murky brown body with a tan head and some thick sediment. Full, thick, creamy palate. The taste follows the aroma with a hint of hops. Incredibly full flavor and no hint of the alcohol really. Wonderful stuff (a la vintage Hardy’s). erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2007 2005 vintage. Pours a deep brown with a loose off-white head. Aroma of dates, bourbon, wanilla, almonds, deep caramel, sherry...WOW! Body is silky, sweet, big but not massive like some of it’s ilk. The flavors are pure BBA, lovely, and not overwhelming. Huge malt and caramel with light esters and a touch of brandy. The finish is lightly bitter, just enough to give it some dryness. A really beautiful English style BW. And it’s aged really well. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 19, 2007 22 oz bottle, via trade. Pours a clear mahogany brown body under a tight bubbled beige head that receded to a thin covering. The aroma is so rich and malty it’s amazing. Dark fruits, raisins, caramel, toffee, light alcohol, and a little port. Flavor is very rich as well, reminds me of decadent nougat candies. Heavy sweet caramel and toffee with a rich, slightly bourbon barrel finish. A good amount of alcohol, but enough risidual sweetness to balance it out, though it did get a bit too much by the end of the bottle. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and full bodied with a slightly sticky cloying finish. Very warming alcohol that actually tingled my gums a little. This was just sooo good. It escapes me how this could be 14% ABV. I would love to cellar some of this, cause I really think that it would hold up well to a good amount of oxidation. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
