On tap at City Beer 7th Anniversary party. Pours reddish brown with a modest off-white head and a sweet malt and bourbon aroma. There is a sweet dark molasses and vanilla flavor with a woody finish and a bourbon trail.

Hazy dark caramel color with tan head. Brandy vanilla, pine, toffee, mild boozy aromas. Medium body. Nice vanilla, wood, spirits, spicy caramel flavors--warming finish--very good.

On-tap at Beermongers yesterday in Portland. Had the bottled version of AD later that night. Brandy isnít as alcohol forward as the bottled version, very sweet and heavy on the malts, notes of apple, grapes, and toffee. Slightly thinner body with a sticky finish.

On tap at MSBC after the 2012 GABBF. What a treat! Colour... Medium brown with no head. Nose... Redolent of prunes, dates and VS brandy. Palate... More prune character and even more dates, with caramel, burnt marshmallow, and a gentle CO2 feel transmits the flavours quite nicely across the palate. A nice change from the "regular" but the reg is still my fave.

On tap at Midnight Sun. Amber color with a thin off white head. Big boozy nose. This beer has all the big caramel sweetness of the regular Arctic Devil plus a big infusion hot alcohol. The brandy barrel seemed to thin this beer out a little. Tastey big beer experiment, but not my favorite version of this beer.

Special draft only beer at MS. Murky amber/brown with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, brandy, oak and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet caramelized malt, boozy brandy and some tanic oak. Medium to full body with mild carbonation and a syrupy mouth feel. This is good but itís missing the character of the other type of barrels that the regular version has.
