markwise (900), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Jun 16, 2009 22oz from trade with kersta8. Pours dark black with a fizzy tan head. Nose is coffee, spice, and some dark, bitter chocolate. Flavor is a lot of coffee, some bitter chocolate, and a moderate amount of spice. Roast lingers in this medium-bodied porter. Interesting and balanced beer. kiefdog (1263), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 9, 2009 Bomber courtesy of markwise. Pours a murky dark brown to black with a huge one finger tan head that settles slowly but laces the glass. Aroma is malty and roasty with notes of coffee, chocolate, cooked veggies, ripe dark fruit, peas, toffee and lighter notes of caramel and light spice. Flavor is sweet and roasty with coffee, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, coffee beans. Generaly medium to full body with pleasing malty coffee finish. cbkschubert (1852), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA May 25, 2009 22 oz. bottle via trade with scrizzz - Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head that didn’t last long. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt and coffee. Well, the flavor is pretty much the same. Body and mouthfeel are a little light. The beer comes around nicely as it warms. A decent coffee beer. Thanks Clint. BgThang (112), Texas, USA May 18, 2009 This beer was really really thin and carbonated. glad I only paid 5 bucks for it. Really was a drain pour. just did not do it for us. tasty like day old coffee and bitter.
chicagodri (885), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 8, 2009 Alright, my first Alaskan beer. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Nice coffee aroma. I thought it had more aroma than actually coffee flavor for me. Was a decent porter though with some chocolate and sweetness as well. HonkeyBra (1024), Lemont, Illinois, USA Apr 26, 2009 Sampled at DLD 09. Brown pour with tan head. Nice coffee aroma. Flavor is more coffee, some chocolate, a bit nutty. Overall, pretty tasty, though not that awesome. BrianK (177), Livingston, New Jersey, USA Apr 18, 2009 Shared by VFerg a while back. Descent coffee flavor went well with the porter. Nothing over the top here. Descent. timsilvia32 (422), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Apr 4, 2009 22 oz. Near black pour, average sized light cream head. Really sweet malty aroma with hints of coffee and caramel. I really did not get the coffee in the smell of this one. Peaty with malty toffee/caramel sweetness. Chocolate and coffee bitter balances the sweetness out nicely. Finishes pretty abrupt with not much lingering. A bit thin, but all around good drinkable porter. I think I would have enjoyed this a bit more had I not had a Victory at Sea Vanilla Bean Porter previous to it. That had some really strong flavors that drown this out a bit. If this was available locally, I could see myself drinking this often as a session brew.
