Beerlando (1352), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a foamy, well retained, beige colored head. Thick rings of lace coat the glass well. The aroma is brimming with coffee essence, roasty chocolate, and scorched caramel malts. There are hints of vanilla and a touch of lactose as well. Flavors follow suit, bold and roasty, with a heavy coffee and chocolate influence. The mouthfeel is substantial, but far from heavy, well carbonated, and semi-dry on the palate. Overall, this is a simple yet tasty, sessionable coffee porter. Nice brew. WeeHeavySD (1865), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bomber via trade a ways back. This one gushed after sitting in the fridge for over a week. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is full of burnt coffee and big roasted malts. Taste has a done of coffee and a lot of big malty backbones. Overall this is a pretty killer coffee porter. mreusch (460), Olathe, Kansas, USA Oct 2, 2008 22oz. bomber, bottled 2nd week of June, pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head that slowly dissipates, good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is dominated by freshly brewed coffee, with some milk chocolate and light roasted malts. Flavor is a gentler coffee influence, and minimal toasted malts and chocolate. Flavor is thinner, lighter and more one dimensional than the aroma lets on, which is disappointing. Not bad, but nothing special either. lb4lb (1453), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours a dark black color with light ruby edges and a light beige head. Smell is very strongly of coffee, and almost a bit like "cheap" coffee. I liked it more until it was commented that it smelled like a retirement home. Hmm... Taste is strong, cheap quality coffee, with a dark roasty, yet slightly watered down malt. Not bad, but not the most impressive coffee beer either. riversideAK (1648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Sep 16, 2008 Aroma of coffee, roasted, and somewhat burnt malts. Pours a dark brown with a thin head. Tastes of roasted coffee with a very light sweetness as well. Smooth, albeit a little thin. Medium carbonation. Easy going, well done.
