Jun 1, 2007 Beer pours black with a tan colored head that is retained and has nice lacing. Aroma is significately coffee also with some smoke and ash, and cream. Flavors of coffee and cream also a bit overly chalky/ashy but not overbearing. Tasty beer.

May 31, 2007 On draft in Seward. Black with tan head, aroma I would expect given the name, and flavors that balanced quite well. Pretty moderate on the coffee and chocolate, sweet and smooth.

May 12, 2007 (22oz bottle) Large brown head atop black body with red edges. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, some coffee, light roast. Taste is sweet, milk chocolate, coffee, some caramel, light earthy. Smooth medium body, low carbonation.

May 10, 2007 Bottle shared by puddintane. Black pour with a foamy light tan head. Aroma of sour/bitter coffee, roasted malts and light chocolate. Flavors of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Medium to thick body...smooth moutfeel due to ther soft carbonation...roasty/bitter finish.

May 9, 2007 Bottle shared by puddintane: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma, coffee, chocolate, and an earthiness, nothing to remarkable on the aroma. Flavor, roasted malts, lots of coffee, a nice roasty bitterness, chocolate, and some earthy notes on the finish. If the aroma was half as nice as the flavor this would be great.

May 8, 2007 A really wonderful treat. 22oz bottle from Liquid Solutions. The nose on this baby is immediately powerful, with a lovely aroma of chocolate malt wafting out consistently. It pours viscous and black, with minimal lacing. With an ABV like this, it’s not super rich and heavy, but the coffee tastes like it’s added in a cold filtering process and it’s really well integrated with a solid porter. The result is a beer that’s smooth, complex, and just a bit smoky at the end. Very nice stuff, probably my favorite from this brewery so far.

May 6, 2007 Bottle: Thanks IndianaRed for this one. Pours a fairly dark black color, small brown head. The nose is robust and smoky with lots of coffee undertones. The flavor is sweet and roasty, light astringency and a decent coffee/mocha flavor toward the backend. Some subtle chocolate and lots of smoke. Good intense porter.
