Sep 12, 2009 Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours an honest brown/red/black with a fizzy, dissipating tan head. Nose is subdued, mild coffee notes thought not as rich as one would expect. On taste, it’s a bit tinny, some old coffee, clean bitterness, lingering fruity notes. Okay, far from a great coffee beer.

Pours a deep, rich mahogany with an aroma of thin. striking brewed coffee and a touch of chocolate. Nice, thick head of light beige and spotted brown. Flavor is tobacco-ish coffee. That’s it. Not much more to say on that front. Light palate that leaves a pleasant film but lacks the thickness I like in a porter. Still, a wonderfully tasty brew that is as advertised; sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and Freud is smiling.

Aug 10, 2009 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cream, and a hint of bitter coffee. Poured black in color with a large, dense, brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, chocolate, slight bitter coffee, and roasting. Medium body. Average texture. Roasted malt, slight bitter coffee, and light chocolate finish.

Jul 26, 2009 Updated: Jul 27, 2009Deep black pour with decent tab head lots of wonderful lacing. Light aroma of roasted and biscuit malt, coffee and toffee. Nice roasted nut and coffee flavors with a lingering chocolate finish. Nice.
