3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted from draft. Pours a very dark brown almost black with beige head. Good lacing. Strong coffee aroma. Taste is also big time coffee flavor much more than most porters, more stout like. Some mild dark chocolate flavors and a hint of dark fruits. Moderately bitter. Finishes with a very dry mouthfeel. Overall a great porter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thick dark brown head; black beer, shards of lace. Roasted, coffee, USA hops, rosewater, dates. Coffee flavour - and precious little else. Some chocolate in the finish if I search well. Well-carbonated, quite slick, maybe medium bodied. Not very heartlfting, really. Halfway decent porter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
65 cl. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to tderoeck! Spare creamy mocha bubbles on the size, oil black. Very bitter roasted coffee, chocolate, molasses, leather, harsh roast, cocoa, vanilla, charcoal, very harsh coffee roast, brutal, too much for me. Surprisingly thick & syrupy for ABV, seems almost double of what it is. Too brutal roast for my liking but not a bad beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 28, 2014 Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark brown almost black colored body with a finger and a half white foamy head that clings a bit with the lacing left behind.
The smell had a nice strong roasted coffee powering in front of a light bitter hoppiness, some light malt coming through as it warms.
The taste was mostly bitter but balances a bit with a decent malt presence, coffee aftertaste, dry finish.
The palate was about a light to medium, somewhat sessionable for an American Porter. Carbonation seems a bit stronger than most American Porters I’ve had but not overbearing.
Overall, this was a pretty good American Porter that I would have again.

22 ounce bottle. A gusher. Pours almost black with a huge tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Not a coffee drinker, so this was not something I took to.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, acquired from Wholefoods in the Bowery, 16/01/14.
A slow gushing affair, this naughty chap pours light black with a good sized tan head that dissipates to a swirl and edgework.
Nose carries a big coffee hit, roasty, chocolate, dark toffee fudge, vanilla, ultimately let down a notch or two by a little soap.
Taste comprises earthy cocoa, good espresso hit, toffee fudge, mineral bite.
Medium bodied, overcooked prickly carbonation.
Solid coffee porter, could have been very good without the light soap on the nose and the carbonation issues.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, wood, dark chocolate, peppery, jasmine tea and parma violets. The taste is smooth, hard roast, coffee, mild acidity, earthy, toast, good bitterness and some marshmallow with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty alright stuff if truth be told.
