Commercial Description:
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen's eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun's brewers designed a beer recipe and infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen's Arctic Rhino Coffee. Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans. The (un)rest is up to you.

Very dark brown. Extra coffee nose...some earthy free trade single estate microroaster shit. Thick, sugary body...Cuban coffee at the casa particular. Sweet, rich coffee throughout....where’s the porter? Nutty accent in the finish.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). Major gusher. This one coated my bar and the floor as I ran to the bathroom. Continued to erupt for a few minutes as it sat in the sink. Poured a dark, dark brown color with a, guess what, huge sized off white head. Aromas of coffee grounds, chocolate, and roasted malts. Being a sucker for coffee beers, I was into this aroma. Tastes were on the thinner side and consisted mainly of coffee, and light chocolate. Flavors definitely a let down after the aroma. Over carbonated and fizzy body.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. The aroma is of unground coffee, vanilla and caramel. The flavor is a little thin, but offers subtle notes of weak coffee and light smoke. Well-balanced. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Finishes chocolatey, lightly sweet and silky. Great coffee beer.

Very carbonated appearance with a huge airy tan clumpy-lacing head over an opaque black body. Strange toasted earthy and herbal greenth aroma. Starts with a fizzy earthy caramel sweetness and a thinner lingering mild roastiness. Not as good as I expected. Perhaps a bad bottle. Expect a re-rate soon.
