Commercial Description:
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen's eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun's brewers designed a beer recipe and infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen's Arctic Rhino Coffee. Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans. The (un)rest is up to you.

Coffee aroma, with vanilla and chocolate. Pours almost black, dark brown on the edges. Great coffee flavor, chocolate and vanilla, light on the palate, very smooth and easy to drink! Thanks Fantomas

22oz bottle from Belmont Station. Black pour with a huge dark tan head of lacy cream. The aroma is rich chocolate and coffee. Not that pleasent of a mix. I’ve definitely tasted better blends of these two flavors. The tastes are actually much better. The twang goes away in the taste. It gets better the more I drink. It is appropriately lighter than a stout and easy to drink.

Black as coal with a medium tan head. Strong cofffe aroma with a roasty character (just like walking into a coffee house on a chilly fall morning. Taste is also of coffee. Body is slightly thin.

Thanks to Daknole for the taste at the the McBackus Backyard Bash 08. Pours a dark blackish red with a tan head. Huge coffee aroma with a dry bitterness. Taste is slightly thin, big coffee, dry and slightly astringent. Very bold coffee porter that has a great aroma, but kind of left a little to be desried on the taste.

Bottle, from brewery. Good nose, Coffee (duh), molasses, chocolate, dairy (milk or cream), Great color, clean reddish black, good cocoa colored head with nice lacing. Bittersweet flavors, like aroma, coffee really rules. Medium body, smooth creamy, kinda oily, mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. Leaves a kind of powdery coating. Tasty brew. A classic porter with the added extra of coffee

Bottle at the Cuvee de Castleton release at Captain Lawrence. Pours black with a thin tan head. Coffee and roast on the nose, and slightly astringent. Thin to medium and roasty. Finishes with more roast and a light bitterness.

Sampled at DLD 09. Brown pour with tan head. Nice coffee aroma. Flavor is more coffee, some chocolate, a bit nutty. Overall, pretty tasty, though not that awesome.

22 oz. bottle - pours thick and dark with quickly fading tan head; aromas of roasted malts mixed in with a grainy and hay like aroma; nice texture and creamy finish in what is a more ’robust’ porter; coffee influence is very subtle in both aromas and flavors, so in that sense it was slightly disappointing; yet this is a still a very delicious porter
