Commercial Description:
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen's eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun's brewers designed a beer recipe and infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen's Arctic Rhino Coffee. Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans. The (un)rest is up to you.

Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Coffee and roasted grain aroma with a touch of dark chocolate and caramel. Pours a dark brown with some red hilights when held to the light. Big tan head with very good retention. Quick initial roasted grain is instantly taken over by a huge roasted coffee with hints of dark chocolate in the finish. Light acidity in the finish as well.

Deep black pour with decent tab head lots of wonderful lacing. Light aroma of roasted and biscuit malt, coffee and toffee. Nice roasted nut and coffee flavors with a lingering chocolate finish. Nice.

Courtesy of puzzl. Thank you, sir. At first the aroma is a touch dusty, but that clears up and cocoa, coffee and chocolate stand out along with some mild roasted malt notes. The body is black and holds a firm and lasting mocha colored head. The first sip seems a bit thin, but the flavor is fairly nice witht he expected coffee/esspresso and chocolate notes and a restrained toasted/roasted malt presence. Gets a touch earthy/dusty again (like the aroma) in the finish, but overall a very pleasant brew.

22 oz bottle, via BA timmcd64. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black, with a firm creamy dark brown head. Excellent retention on the head, and no sediment noted in bottle. Aroma is bursting with roast, chocolate malt, French roast coffee, and some dark fruits. Just a hint of caramel as well. Flavor is a balance between roast, coffee, and sweet chocolate. Finish has some dusty cocoa, lightly bitter hops, and cold coffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly oily in texture with moderate carbonation. Overall, a very nice Porter, and very drinkable. I could have gone for a little heftier body, but the coffee was spot on.

The Dan Journal #187. Tasted 6/6/08. 22oz bomber. Pitch with a brown hue. Beige head. Aromas of anise, port and sulfur. Full bodied with notes of cola and a tart bitter palate. Tight effervescence. Good coffee note. Touch lighter malt and stickier. Solid!

RBSG 06. Huge amounts of roasted coffee beans in the nose. Very dry mouthfeel, surprisingly light, with straight coffee notes throughout. Enjoyable, but frustratingly one-dimensional.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with no hues and 2 finger tan head. Aroma is cocco/chocolate/coffee as well in the flavor maybe a touch of macadamian in the finish. Quality every time w/MS.
