COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allenís eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sunís brewers designed a beer recipe and flavor infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allenís Arctic Rhino Coffee Blend.

Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans.

22oz bottle -

This beer was full of coffee goodness, and while one dimesional, itís quite tasty. Aroma was coffee, coffee, and a little more coffee with just a bit of tootsie roll thrown in. Flavor had a nice meld of coffee and chocolate, light molasses, light vanilla and a body on the thin side. Another nice beer from Midnight Sun.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2014 Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a dark brown almost black colored body with a finger and a half white foamy head that clings a bit with the lacing left behind. The smell had a nice strong roasted coffee powering in front of a light bitter hoppiness, some light malt coming through as it warms. The taste was mostly bitter but balances a bit with a decent malt presence, coffee aftertaste, dry finish. The palate was about a light to medium, somewhat sessionable for an American Porter. Carbonation seems a bit stronger than most American Porters Iíve had but not overbearing. Overall, this was a pretty good American Porter that I would have again.

Bottle from Sugaya. 5% a thick dark pour with lots of roasty reddish tinged head. The nose is mostly roasted coffee notes. The flavor profile is coffee, roasty & smooth.

22 ounce bottle. A gusher. Pours almost black with a huge tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Not a coffee drinker, so this was not something I took to.

Bomber from Beer and Wine Haus, Seaside, OR. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Pours black with a thick, light brown head and good lacing. Roasted malt flavor to start. Rich coffee finish that is quite smooth and not overpowering. Good coffee beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle split at Bruceís pad, acquired from Wholefoods in the Bowery, 16/01/14. A slow gushing affair, this naughty chap pours light black with a good sized tan head that dissipates to a swirl and edgework. Nose carries a big coffee hit, roasty, chocolate, dark toffee fudge, vanilla, ultimately let down a notch or two by a little soap. Taste comprises earthy cocoa, good espresso hit, toffee fudge, mineral bite. Medium bodied, overcooked prickly carbonation. Solid coffee porter, could have been very good without the light soap on the nose and the carbonation issues.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, wood, dark chocolate, peppery, jasmine tea and parma violets. The taste is smooth, hard roast, coffee, mild acidity, earthy, toast, good bitterness and some marshmallow with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty alright stuff if truth be told.

Bottle cheers to Colin. Gushed a little bit but we were ready. Dark brown with a big, frothy khaki head. Nose is rich and bitter espresso, plenty of pepper and chilli spice, vanilla, touch herbal and mustard. Odd. Taste is very aggressively bitter forward with loads of espresso! A touch grassy, lemon rind, pepper, dark chocolate and salted caramel coming through. Very spice driven with big bitter astringency. A bit all over the place. Not my kind of beer

Tasting at the pad of the ever gracious Bruce. Opaque dark brown beer, big medium-tan head. This was a mild gusher. Palate is airy and light, fine carbonation. Light airy malt cream, touch of tangy dark malt and mellow roast. Mild coffe. Smooth airy finish. Itís fine if a bit unexciting.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin. Mild gusher. Pours rich brown with a large, frothy tan head. Lots of burnt coffee on the nose, some cocoa, hints of red chili. Light to medium sweet flavor with burnt earth, rich cocoa, moderate bitterness. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Pretty good balance to finish with dry chocolate, modest earthy bitterness, raisins, slight coffee. Nice, dynamic porter.

Bottle @ Arminís apartment, courtesy of arminjewell. Pours a deep brown appearance with a stupid crazy big brown head. Celery, veggie, bland, lightly roasty aroma. Stir fry, celery, bubbly, chocolate, green pepper flavor. Horribly fucked up.
