COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen’s eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun’s brewers designed a beer recipe and flavor infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen’s Arctic Rhino Coffee Blend.

Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans.

The (un)rest is up to you.

[1824-20081022] 22floz bottle. Sweet bubbly coffee grounds aroma with dry wood and mild plastic. Dark black brown body with a big long-lasting foamy light tan head. Bubbly flavour is like dry charred wood roasting on a bed of coffee grounds. Full body has lots of bubbles. Nice coffee, seems a little over-carbonated (don’t often say that before) but otherwise fair and interesting.

Bottle from Ashburn Wine Shop. Pours black with 2 inches of khaki foam. Big roasted coffee notes on the nose. Big brewed coffee on the tongue. Lots of carbonation. The beer literally runs from you as you drink it. Nice!

From ZDK’s gathering. The aroma is smooth coffee, some roast. The appearance is brown/black, tan head. The flavor is almost pure coffee. The finish is roasted coffee, pine. Medium in body. The coffee drowns this one out.

Bottle shared at Zach & Matt’s tasting. Pours dark brownish black with a small tan head. Aroma is lots of coffee and lots of green peppers, maybe jalapenos or bell peppers, with some basement mustiness. Taste is slightly bitter burnt coffee with some green pepper notes. Taste is kind of thin and the bitterness lingers in a bitter burnt coffee sort of way. I feel like this could have been better than it was.

Drinkable, however the coffee flavor is a little stale. Also it was rather fizzy for a porter.

Bottle. Black pour with brown head. Coffee and roasted aromas. Smooth velvet like texture. Nice coffee tones and bitter finish, a light sweet flavor up front.

Bottle. Weedy metallic chocolate malt aroma. Dark black with thin tan head. Sweet chocolate and iodine flavor. Initially kind of strange but pretty good when comparing it to Islay scotch.

Bottle. Strange mineral-ly aroma with a touch of chocolate... not quite seaweed, but definitely an ocean/ozone type thing. Maybe they used north pacific ocean water. Near black with a small tan head. Mineral-ly chocolate, and light roasty flavor. Medium body.
