Commercial Description:
Vicious and viscous, this menacing brew pours opaque black with a creamy maduro-colored head. Its aroma offers seductive whiskey, chewy red wine, dark fruit and lavish tobacco. Berserker Imperial Stout invades your taste buds with in-your-face flavor. Weighing in at almost 13% alcohol by volume, Berserker is completely out-of-control. Give it a good fight.
This version of Berserker Imperial Stout was aged in both red wine and whiskey barrels. The entire batch was brought back together before being packaged in kegs and 22-oz bottles.

Bottle shared with Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, Jerc, Mds, and Mabel, Harry’s bottle. Strong sweet baltic porter like aroma - sweet and very nice. Pitch black, no head. Taste is decadent: silky body, sweet malt, sharp hops and lots of alcohol. Like a very strong baltic porter. A treat.

Black body with a tiny creamy head that fades (3+). Sweet boozy chocolate aroma is lovely, hint of brown sugar. Notes of of dark boozy fruit, mild roast is subtle muted chocolate. Average to medium palate is a touch thin but smooth. (3+) Very nice beer.

Bottle (650ml - 2005 vintage). Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel, mds and tupalev - my bottle via trade with DarkElf - DarkElf+ Fest ’07!!. Thick, purple-black pour, small tan head. Thick, rich, oily, overroast malt taste, herbal hops, almost sweet, smooth and not overpowering. strong cherry tartness in the finish. Pretty thick, oily, light acidity; silky. Excellent!

Bottle shared by moejuck & spector at C-Bus 6, thanks guys! Black pour with red edges and a tan head. Aroma of bready malt molasses and light elements of bourbon. Flavors of chocolate and coffee stood out coupled with vanilla, oak and othe bourbony traits. Thick mouthfeel, roasty/chocolate finish. MY love for this is ticking clock.

2007 bottle. Maybe this suffered from following the Abyss, but I don’t think so. The bottle I got sent from Anchorage was not up to the reputation of Midnight Sun. Black beer with a frothy chocolate brown head. The nose had an odd acetate, celery and balloon sense about it. The flavors showed green coffee bean, celery leaf, some berry fruit and something plastic. Alcohol is too present among the flavors. I expected more from Midnight Sun, and will re-rate if I get the chance in case this was a bad bottle.

Bottle thanks to moejuck and spector. Poured pitch black with not much head at all. Aroma was of chocolate, some alcohol, and some dark fruits. Flavor was of chocolate, coffee, and fruitness. A little hoppy bitterness and some alcohol. Also some burning on the tongue that seemed a little acidic.

22oz 2007 bottle. huge thanks to Andy (puzzl) for throwing this in unexpectedly in a trade!! pours a thick black color with reddish tan head. looks great! the aroma is so amazing, bursting with sweet chocolate, dark fruits, and whiskey that really adds complexity and depth to it. flavor is quite has impresive as the nose but still has nice loads of raisins and dark fruits, vanilla, baker’s chocolate, and licorice. some slight oak and coconut in the finish. i’d prefer some more roasted malts though. mouthfeel is a tad thin and slightly creamy but alcohol is well hidden. this actually reminded of the nose of dark lord with the flavor of deschutes the abyss but not as annoyingly chewy. thanks again Andy!

Thank you Andy, I don’t know who you are, and Degarth for sharing with me!

This shit was Good! Charred black body… dark khaki head, aroma of dark fruits, coco, coffee, brown sugar, hints of vanilla and oak chips, the bold ABV is hidden like a bandit. On the sweeter side of Impy Stout, a lesser hopping is great for this style, IMO. Velvety creamy body, sticky, chewy, and rich… really damn good, I really do love this brewery!
