Vicious and viscous, this menacing brew pours opaque black with a creamy maduro-colored head. Its aroma offers seductive whiskey, chewy red wine, dark fruit and lavish tobacco. Pour pitch black, with a huge slightly fizzy tan head, that turns into a small ring of creaminess. Aroma of bourbon, slight dark fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some green notes as well, booze, slight banana. Some faint hints of the syrup (not enough, if you ask me) - but becomes more and more present as this bad boy warms up) The taste is sweet upfront, with some roasty and slightly bitter aftertaste. Semi-full body, with a rather flat carbonation. This really envovles in the glass. Big thanks to Ryan for sending me this.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4829) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 11, 2014
From the July 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a small foamy dark brown head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was coconut, slick oily malts, anise, bourbon, brown sugar and marzipan. The flavor was port wine, bourbon, coconut, anise, chocolate syrup, vague fruity hops, bread dough and marzipan. Very long finish. Very full, thick and smooth body. Outstanding!

Bottle pour. Black black black body, espresso colored skiff of foam. Aroma is sorghum molasses, soy, prune, licorice, bourbon, ginger cookies. Taste is bourbon, molasses, raisin, crack seed plum, ginger, big vanilla and bitter black malt ending. Palate is thick and chewy, subdued carbonation. Six months in the cellar have done good things for this beer. I wish I had another to leave for a year. Molasses still dominates, but soy is more subdued, fruity flavors coming out.

From trade with jbuddle, sampled from the 0.65l bottle @ Top Hops (BA) Bottle Share. Oh, it’s REALLY deep dark and near jet black in the glass this one! It has a nice medium sized deep dark brown head on top. A lovely nose with lots of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and a strong warming sweetness. Superb. A bit dry on the flavor initially, as I expected lots of sweetness. I get traces if both cardboard (in a strange good way), lots of chocolate, deep vanilla and lots and lots of wood! Dry cocoa and salty licorice lingering in the finish. It’s soft and prickling on the bubbles and thick, viscous and chewy in the mouth. An amazing beer. 15.06.2013

Bottle. The pour is black with a beauty of a thin lacing head. The aroma is bourbon and molasses. The taste is light on the bourbon, and big on the toffee. Big and thick, nice drinking big stout.

22 oz bottle. Thanks Tim! The pour is jet black with a medium khaki head, small, and fades to a ring of stagnant color. The aroma is a little bourbony dominance to the nose, but the licorice and smooth molasses work incredibly well with a light roast. The flavor is much better. There is a light heat, but the licorice is beautiful and the molasses works well with a light vanilla presence on the back end. The mouth feel is definitely creamy with a great carbonation and a lingering roasty beautiful aftertaste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark with a dissipating mocha brown head. When sniffing my glass I picked up on an earthy tobacco, sweet booze, soft oak, dark malts, and candy syrup. Tasting, I noticed a sweet sugary flavor, bourbon booze, heavy dark malts, weak vanilla, and dark chocolate like bitterness. The sweetness, booze, grain bill blend nicely. The sweetness is more molasses than maple. As for the finish it was rather enjoyable. Everything fades nicely and my palate was not impacted as much as I believed it would have been. Overall this is a fine beverage and worth obtaining to share.

Pours black with minimal brown head. Aroma is big molasses and syrup with some roast and barrel in the background. The taste is sweet molasses and maple syrup framed by roasted malt and sweet bourbon. Thick mouth feel and well hidden abv.
