COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vicious and viscous, this menacing brew pours opaque black with a creamy maduro-colored head. Its aroma offers seductive whiskey, chewy red wine, dark fruit and lavish tobacco. Berserker Imperial Stout invades your taste buds with in-your-face flavor. Weighing in at almost 13% alcohol by volume, Berserker is completely out-of-control. Give it a good fight.

Countbeer (4042) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 12, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Pitch black pour! The brownest head I have ever seen on a beer! Damn this looks awesome! Aromas of bourbon, butter, mocha, liquorice, vanilla, cream, prunes, perfume, some marzipan, light roast, some meat and some coffee. Flavours of bourbon, coffee, roast, cream, mocha, vanilla, bitter, some prunes, some raisin, mocha, dark chocolate, wood, some toffee, bon bon, nuts and some dark coffee roast pralines... Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, bourbon, roast, spices, liquorice, some nuts and chocolate. Low carbo, silky spicy mouthfeel, full bodied and a oily spicy texture. Complexity is my middle name!

Pours a rich, warm coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Bold aroma has notes of coffee, roast malt and sweet caramel. Sweet roast malt, coffee and caramel notes fill out the strong flavor. Texture is quite firm and fairly fizzy. Go berserk!

2012 vintage, I think. Bomber purchased 18 months ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($19.99). Pours an inky black color with one finger of creamy and very dark brown foam. AROMA of fine aged bourbon, sticky toffee, nutty dark malts, candied dark fruit (cherry, raisin), and chocolate. FLAVOR of nice dark chocolate/cocoa, cherry cordial, bourbon, dark maple syrup, dark caramel, port wine, and vanilla pipe tobacco. A very nice level of sweetness. Has a surprisingly soft mouthfeel considering how big this beer is. Though there are nice quality notes of bourbon and port here, it is not really "boozy" at all in the harsh sense. Very quaffable for a huge beer. Nicely complex and balanced with the bourbon and maple/molasses without overdoing the roast. I have thought this brewery to be just okay to date, but this one is certainly a big winner. (413, 846)

Pours a deep dark umber with two fingers of tight khaki foam. The nose is a mixture of sweet molasses, cocoa powder, plum and earthy tea. The palate follows with a lot of cocoa powder chocolate malt and added complexity from the vinous fruit, smoky earth and even a touch of saltiness. The flavors are there but they just don’t read very harmoniously throughout the life of the beer. Not bad but definitely wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet roasted malt notes with some light black chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by quite a bit of residual sugars with some nice dry roasted malt notes. Notes of coffee and molasses are also very pleasant. Body is full with nice thick oily texture with good carbonation and alcohol is not overly apparent. Nice big IS which retains some good drinkability level.

THX! for this gem. Thx goes to Mathieu87, I believe. 650 ml. bottle sampled @ Brugs Bier Festival 2014. Pours a sludgy black liquid with only a small rim on the sides. Nose is huge molasses, very thick liquorish, sweet, bourbon, warming, liquorish is quite dominant, coffee & roasted oak. Taste is bitter thick molasses, lots of liquorish (interesting but less my thing), thick syrupy, barrel, warming, bitter coffee grounds, lots of molasses, roasted oak, charred, warming, touch bourbon. Thick, chewy, little carb. Interesting & solid beer.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 Alaska’s most wanted....hmm...that’s funny as nothing was sent to the Juneau area this entire Autumn. I had to trade for this one. I had in a pint glass and a Midnight Sun tulip. 12.7% ABV labeled on the bottle. 2013 vintage.let’s do this. The appearance pours like motor oil (i.e. jet black pour has that "glub glub" sound to it)....in the pint glass and the tulip, about the same sized head = about a finger’s worth of foamy slightly tan/almost off white head that dies within about a minute. The smell - well, its mostly bourbon, woo-wee, holy crap, boy is that over over powering or what, woo-wee...as it warms, there is some maple and molasses; lil’ bit of oakiness coming through, unsure how well it combines, though its not really combining to me, I do get some roastiness and some major vinousness/wine-ness to it, hmm.... yikes (I passed it to a wine drinker and she said this is very wine-like) uh-oh On the palate, I just wonder if this could be any sweeter through the vinousness its already in, hmmmm...ok, is this how you want this thing MS, ok, no worries; however I will say this has an exceptionally sweet sticky aftertaste and a dry sticky sweet finish Overall, would I have this again, no way, this is a wine in disguise at the moment, hmm....maybe if it aged a bit, it could come back to a slightly "beer state." until then, this is actually pure crap fresh, if you like wine, try it fresh, if you like beer, age it and see what happens.
