| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Aroma is not overly strong, seems floral, maybe a bit of citrus. Reddish amber color with a beige head that stays awhile. Medium bodied. Creamy carbonation. The hop is not super strong, and seems to be be citrus. There is medium roasted malt sweetness. The impact overall is a bit harsh rather than smooth. Nice retention of bitter into the finish, but it may never be very balanced at any one point. Finish is not all that dry at first. Very nice impression though. Heat is never very noticeable. Leaves the palate fairly clean. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2007 Bottle Pours a clear deep chestnut color. rather darker than I expected. Very big, thick creamy off-white head with lots of blocky persistant lacing. Aroma is malty and woody. Hops are definately there but not very bright or citrusy. Flavor is big and lots of rich deep malt flavor. A bit ddissapointed on the hoppiness. Or lack of. Some bitterness is there but cant quite counter the malt profile. Likely I have a several month old bottle that has faded a bit in this area. ABV is noticeable but appropriate for the big flavor and the big rich heavy palatte. Feels great going down. Creamy and soft with just the right modest carbonation. Nice big beer. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 29, 2007 22 oz bottle, via puzzl. Pours a dark copper to amber colored body under a fluffy craggy beige head. Tons of fat sticky lacing and lots of fine visible carbonation. The aroma is quite pungent with lots of citrusy and piney hops and a quite apparent hefty malt content. Minimal alcohol vapors with a light tea accent. Very aggressively hoppy and bitter flavor up front with a ton of sprucy pine pitch. Finishes slightly sweet with a toasted and caramel maltiness and lingering bitterness. Noticable but not overly hot alcohol emerging on the finish as well. Mouthfeel is full bodied but thankfully not sticky or cloying. There is some resiny stickiness but overall, pretty well attenuated. Clearly a hopheads delight. Midnight Sun delivers another great beer! Cletus (5052), Connecticut, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 23, 2007 Pours with a deep amber-res body topped by a thick, off-white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a piney hoppy bitterness, a note of flowers and a slight metallic note. Full bodied, dry and a bit warming. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2007 The aroma is lightly toasty with grassy hops and some grainy notes. Doesn’t smell at all like the citrus/pine hop bomb I expected. Smells more like a Pale Ale and not even an IPA, but it smells good to me. The body is a orange/brown and transparent. It holds a diminishing tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Very muted hop component for the style. Reminds me a lot of Full Sail Amber which I have had a few of recently....a sort of herbal/tea like note that I assume is from the hops. It’s very clean tasting and only lightly malty. I wonder how this qualifies as a DIPA. I personally enjoy it, but I doubt many die-hard hop heads would. cbkschubert (1967), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 14, 2007 22 oz. bottle shared by BockyHorsey at our Mesa gathering - Pours a deep amber color with a thin off white head. Very light spotty lacing. Has a light toasted malt aroma. Flavor is also malt with a good bit of bitterness. Medium body. To be honest, this beer was a little dissappointing. I guess I expected a little more from MSB. Still a decent 2IPA. Thanks Bill.
