Commercial Description:
When the loveable "hopheads" at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse requested a winter version of alehouse favorite Sockeye Red IPA, our brewers instinctively spawned CoHoHo Imperial IPA. CoHoHo begins with generous measures of pale two-row and specialty malts along with spirit-boosters like maple syrup, brown sugar and honey. Hefty doses of Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops beautifully balance that outrageous malt bill and heighten the festive character of this exuberant beer. Whatever the celebration, make merry with CoHoHo Imperial IPA.

Bomber. Oct. 06. Beer is clear, medium-dark reddish-brown color. Head is initially small, beige, frothy, medium-large. Diminishes into specks of lacing and a skim of vapor.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, biscuit, caramel; Hoppy with a light notes of bright lemon, resin; Yeasty with a light note of sour-cream laced dough; Trace miscellaneous note of vanilla.
The flavor is moderately bittersweet, trace bright acidity, the finish is lightly-to-moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Some astringency and alcoholic warmth.
The body is medium, the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is lively.
Tasty ’nuff.

Bottle (Oct bottling, presumably ’06). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie, caramel, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, flowers), with a note of black tea. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately bitter, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Very nice for the style, especially in the mouth (the aroma isn’t particularly exciting, but the balance and mouthfeel are great...creamy, and very bitter without being abrasive, with plenty of thick sweet malt to keep it luscious).

Shared this 22oz Bottle with Cbkshubert and Bucknaked at a gathering at my place. Citrus aroma and also had a metalic presence on the nose. Amber body with off white head. Had some sugar roasty malt mixed with a fruity plum flavor. Odd mix on the flavor and odd body color for an IPA I thought. But beer was good and left somewhat of a dry aftertaste.

Uniquely spice and robust American IPA that develops new flavors as it warms up. Mild head and deep tawny color. Very enjoyable seasonal with a big malt profile.
