yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 24, 2007 Updated: Feb 25, 200765 cL bottle (sample). Orange, white head. Aroma hops. Taste becomes almost soapy from these. Malty and bitter as well. Long lasting bitterness joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 24, 2007 Bottle.
Clear orange coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of malts, fruits, pine needles, hops and grape fruits.
Flavour of hops, pine needles, fruits and grape fruits. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Feb 20, 2007 22 oz. bomber. Pours a nearly clear reddish copper with a large linen white head. Aroma of lemons, grapefruit, and spruce trees. I found the flavor to be similar to the aroma with a long, bitter finish. I did not detect any of the malt noted in the commercial description. Still, an enjoyable beer albeit it was a little more bitter than what I prefer. This is the first beer I have sampled from Midnight Sun, and I’d like to try some others. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jan 23, 2007 Bottle from my sis. Loosely hoppy, astringent aroma, very piney, and soapy. Pour is beautiful, head is beautiful, strong lacing. Actually very different in the mouth, light hops, slightly sweet lemon. No malt balance underneath it, though. Palate is thinner but more drinkable than most IIPAs. garmonbozia (225), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Jan 20, 2007 Pours a beautiful amber color with a frothy white head. Smell of caramel, hops and malt. It has a very smooth tatse with hints of caramel and hops. The alcohol is well hidden in this beer. It does however have a metal aftertaste also. Overall a damn fine beer skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 10, 2007 22 oz bomber into a Snifter style glass. December 2005 bottling. Pours a mainly amber tone with a bit of a golden brown hue to it. Light off-white head with decent retention. The aroma is exactly what it needs to be: a hopped up piney blast with hints of dough and yeast. Some fruit is detectable as well. The flavor brings a straight forward sweet malt in the front moving into a sprucey, very citrused, and piney body, ending in a very present, but balanced bitter hop end that lingers beautifully. 8% ABV very well hidden. Very resiny on the palate, coating it and sticking. A quality IIPA. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 18, 2006 Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a huge rocky off-white head, mostly diminishing, excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (cereal, meal), heavy hops (perfume, pine, spruce, resin), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of heavy alcohol and apple. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity, heavy bitterness and minerals. Medium bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and bitter finish. iamsancho16 (99), USA Nov 17, 2006 This is simply one of the best beers produced in the state of Alaska. Alaska produces some extremely delicious beers, so that is no small compliment.
