Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 8, 2006 2003 expirey, received from Liquid Solutions earlier this year. An Xmas beer, a super-IPA, so bitterness and malting expected. This mellowed superbly, bitterness well contained in great malting. A good one. Carmel, fruitiness, barleywine-ish, . Nice grapefruit and head colouring.
thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 29, 2006 This bottled brew poured a large sized head of foamy yellow white colored fine to large sized bubbles that left behind a transparent brown colored softly carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was of dark brown malts and hops. The mouth feel was mildy tingly from start to finigh with a hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and hops with nothing notably distinguishing about it. Yet a vey good brew. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2006 Many Thanks to some misplaced named RateBeerian!
I’ve really been looking forward to this beer!
Pours a dark amber body, looks like dried pine sap. The head is ivory and laces the entire glass. Aroma is BIG, very spicy and citric. The malt is chiefly abundant, slightly caramelized and mildly smoky, a hint of peat. Pinesap, plum, dates, honeydew, and a hint of pineapple are all mentionable. The palate is viscous, fine bubbled, sticky and ends very dry! - This is one knurly Double IPA!
MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2006 bottle. amber color, light tan head. aroma is piney and simcoe hop? flavor is dry bitter hop, faint earth. still has malty sweetness. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 8, 2006 Mullman brought this to the last HWOH. THank!! Pours a medium amber slight haze a thin lasting off white head. Aroma is citrusy and pine - maybe chinook and columbus? Citrusy and mint hop flavors with a nice strong crystal malt backbone. Smooth mouthfeel and a very strong bitter finish. Awesome DIPA. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2006 12/05 bottle shared by Blake. Clear brown body, small tan head. Cooked banana, lemon peel, and chocolately coffee cake aroma. Not a hop monster. The flavor brings in a sweet toffee/caramel flavor under tasty mandarin orange, lemon grass, and acidic rhubarb. A well-done IIPA. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2006 Thrid wee of Dec. 2005 bottle. The beer pours to a garnet hued copper body with a thin off-white head. Spotty lacing. The aroma is piney, sprucey, resins, citrus, sugary malt. The flavor is piney/sprucey/grapefruity with lingering resins. Decently malty and definitely sugary. The palate has a lingering resin. Smooth feel. Definite alcohol. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2006 amberish brown color visable carbonation and a big thick light tan head w/ some great lacing. Smells nice.. sweet hoppy aroma great pine and citurs w/ a nice full carmel. Palate is biting.. oily full and creamy. Flavor is very bitter tastes of dry hopped malt comes through late. A lot of dry pine resin that i thought detracted, but good.
