badgerben (3587), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Dec 29, 2005 Red color with a towering head. Aroma of caramel and very earthy hops. The taste was substantially bitter, but no where near the ridiculous amounts that most IIPAs end up with. It seemed more like bitter malt than bitter hops. No floral quality at all. Almost syrupy. Damn nice. bobarito (2), Fairbanks, Alaska, USA does not count Dec 21, 2005 Bottled March 2005. Great aroma of hops. An off-white foam that fades quickly but leaves a nice layer, with great lace on the glass. Taste is very hoppy and well balanced. Slight alcohol flavor as the beer warms. RooftopRogue (423), Champaign, Illinois, USA Dec 11, 2005 A strong aroma of hops is detected. Bronze in color with a thick beige head that settles fast leaving a hearty amount of lacing in its wake. The taste is bitter but smooth. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Nov 14, 2005 Bottle: Fiery amber, fairly clear, moderate off-white head, settles quickly, decent lacing, light carbonation.   Hop leaf aroma, very slight fern and tea leaf.   Slight mustiness, and seems as if it might be fairly sweet as well.   Semi-sweet hopped up start, moderate bitterness tho, decent malt base, citrusy backside.   Pleasant finish, lingering earthy hop bitterness.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Nothing extraordinary, lighter than most, but a solid example of the style.
timmcd64 (4), Eagle River, Alaska, USA does not count Nov 12, 2005 Bottled 2005. Another one of my hometown favs. There’s enough malt balance to make this a great winter time DIPA. Gratefruit is the dominate hop flavor, which is OK by me. Mouthfeel is full with a lingering bitter finish. Great way to warm up on a cold Alaskan winters day. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 4, 2005 Updated: Feb 3, 2008Thanks to egajdzis 2005 bottle. Pours a slight hazy rusty amber with an average size off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and orange. Flavor is slightly bitter, pine, dry hops.

Re-rate 2007 bottle. Pours a deeper chestnut/amber with a large foamy off white head that laced. Aroma of fresh American hops, orange, mixed citrus, some pine, caramel...just nice an hoppy as it should be. Flavor was piney up front with some grapefruit, other mixed citrus and caramel malt. Also getting some cereal grain notes...lots of hop bitterness. Bitterness lingers and it very piney. egajdzis (3604), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 4, 2005 Poured a dark amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. ARoma of grassy and floral hops, pine, citrus, and light caramel malt. Taste of citrus fruits, caramel malt, a light nuttiness, and finishing with grapefruit bitterness. Big thanks to ClarkVV for hooking me up with this! duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Aug 31, 2005 Bottle. Quite caramely and raisiny for an Imperial IPA. Sweet malty staart (this sweet caramel/raisin is also noticed quite evidently in the aroma. The hops are there though, lots of piney, lychee and grapefruit hop flavours. Bit sweet though, but o must admit it got better as i worked my way through it.
