pivo (2535), Germany Mar 16, 2005 Sweet honey nose, copper color, fluffy sticky head. Apricots in the malt body, sweet hop dryness at end. Heavy chewy body. Different - sweeter than other IIPAs, but it all balances out somehow. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 10, 2005 Ruby/mahogany with a foamy white head. Bitter aromas with some honey and herbs. Alcohol as well. Almost a little piney or sprucey. Again, the flavors come out bitter and piney with caramel and toasted malts. Finishes piney.
Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Mar 10, 2005 I can see the headline now: Busy beer label causes seizures in beer geek., and don’t get me started on the tacky salmon reference...damn someone though that was clever.
Oh, you want me to talk about the beer? Sorry. The colour is golden-amber...an attractive golden-amber. Don’t know the intangible that makes it better all the other "golden-amber" beers out there but it is to my eyes a pretty beer. The aroma is spicy, minty and toasty. Overall the character is moderate for style, with the expected citrus and toast notes, but not particularly chewy. Nothing awesome, but quite enjoyable. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 8, 2005 Amber body, clear with a large white head. Aroma is citrus with some apple, pear, sweet malts and sprucey hops. Lots of malts upfront but moves quick to the bitterness of the hops. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Mar 7, 2005 From the bottle this brew has an very clear amber body with a big white head. Aroma of very piney citrus hops and some sweet caramel malts. The big malt start did well counteracting the massive pine hop bitter finish, but I’m just not very fond of the pine tree hop flavor. Very crisp and bitter trailing finish. Not a bad IIPA, but seven dollars a bottle seems very high. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Mar 4, 2005 Amber colored, small layer of a head. Hoppy, raison but also toffee nose. Intense roasted maltiness in the beginning with a crisp hoppy kick in the end. Pine finish. jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Feb 28, 2005 Pours a rusty tan with a huge creamy head that never fades. Aroma of mild citrusy hops, english yeast fruitiness, and a clean sweet maltiness. Flavor is the same as the aroma but with a slight addition of spicy hops. The hop aroma and flavor is much less then I would expect from a standard IIPA. The fruitiness is an interesting twist. The finish is a balanced fruitiness and the aftertaste slowly grows bitter cleaning the palate for another sip. Seemed almost like and english IPA recipe that happened to use West Coast hops. brewbandit (312), Marietta, Georgia, USA Feb 15, 2005 Light amber body with good head. Heavy hop presence on the nose with same on initial taste. Light malt balances the hops through the middle with a smooth balanced finish.
