Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 30, 2009 Bomber courtesy of writerjlberg. Pours clear dark amber with a one finger beige head. The nose is sweet citrus and caramel. The taste is caramel, citrus and some pine in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Good stuff, despite being 5-6 months old. I’d love to try this fresh. Thanks again Luke! after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA May 29, 2009 22. Pours crystal-clear, slightly rubied medium amber. Thick, sudsy tan head. Plenty of lacing showing. Nice big nose of pine, peach, and apricot. Definite doughy malts showing through. Creamy medium body carrying lots of tree fruit on the mid-palate, followed by all kinds of cookie dough stuff; sweet malt, brown sugar, and then a nice tidy pine finish. Riverside pretty much nailed it with his rate. Good stuff. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 28, 2009 Auburn pour with a nice fluffy head and good lace. Nose of citrus hops, some fruity notes, brown sugar, and sweeter malts. The flavor is initially a burst of citrus hops followed by notes of brown sugar, honey, caramel, juniper appears in there, as it is all brought together by a resiny pine finish. Really nice drinker. Not overly bitter, but well put together and enjoyable. TampaBrew (746), Tampa, Florida, USA May 25, 2009 Poured a nice copper. Nose is sweet citrus hops and sweet malts. Flavor is resiney, pine and sweet malts mixed with citrus hop goodness. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA May 25, 2009 Thanks to tasting group for the share. Pours copper-amber with an off-white head. Nose is malt, pine, and some hints of red grapefruit. Flavor is caramel, pine, and a nice hop punch. Finish lingers with malty pine. Very enjoyable and lots of malt. BrianK (190), Livingston, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2009 From an old rating. I rather enjoyed this one. Nice hop and malt profile. Easy drinker. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 23, 2009 bottled the fourth week of november 2008. sampled fourth week of april 2009 via psprings.
pours a dark rich copper color and fairly clear with a substantial pale tan head which deposits a bunch of foam on the glass.
the nose is dry, spicy and has an alcohol numbing quality... aromas of brown sugar, toasty grain, some sort of citrus and sweet woody pine... juniper for sure.
the palate is barely sweet by iipa standards and nothing really stands out except that it clicks!... something is really good in here! it is dry, spicy and clean with flavors matched by the aroma. a bitter finish leaves a bunch of brown sugary malt in the aftertaste.
the medium body is terribly easy to drink = not sticky or sweet!
8/4/8/4/17/4.1 Lothore (276), California, USA May 21, 2009 A- Pours a ruddy amber hue with a big, chunky, reddish brown head.
S- LOTS of piney hops and very distinct juniper berries.
T- Starts bready and immediately moves into deep juniper and pine notes. Very distinct and interesting.
M- Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation.
D- This was an interesting one to try but i’m just not a huge fan of juniper berries and that was such a huge part of the brew it was hard to ignore.
