Sweet and malty flavour, some fruit. Quite easy to drink. My first experience with the style. bierkoning (6025), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2004 Amber color, firm head. Hoppy blackcurrant aroma and flavor. Has some fruity sweetness. Grapes. Somewhat alcoholic, but that is still pretty well hidden. Dry out effect in the mouth. Solid beer with a good taste. caesar (3032), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2004 Clear orange color, short creamy off-white head. Aroma of cascade hops. Bitter taste, bit sweet, some bubblegum. Bitter palate. Nice balance. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Tasty but this isn’t much of a Double IPA.
Chestnut.
Aroma of pine, pineapple, smoked wood and roasted malts, mainly caramel but also a hint of molasses.
Where are the hops in this? This is entirely too malty for a a DIPA. Flavor mainly consists of hops oils, pine needles, apricots, pineapples and lemon. The malt backbone is nice but if I want a nice malt backbone, I’ll snag an English barley wine. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2004 Perhaps it’s a changing palate or a seasonal thing but I am really enjoying IPAs. This one poured a nice bronze with a beige head. The familiar grapefruit/hops aroma. Inviting and appealing. Creamy and full in the mouth. Flavor was crisp and clean and citrusy. Very refreshing. I’ve had better but this was quite good. sloth (1662), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2004 Large tan head, excellent retention and a thick, frothy coating lace, lasting. Hazy amber/orange hued brew. Spicey hop nose. Med/full body, over carbed. Woody, hop flavors, light malt notes, spicey, lightly citrusy with some peppery notes and a touch of crystal malt in there somewher. Finish is medium dry. This beer seems to be wandering around a bit, kinda lost. Interesting though. hopdog (5550), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 12, 2004 Poured a dark amber/orange in color with a huge, five finger, head. Nice hoppy, citris, piney, orange and grapefruit aroma. Nice tasting (like it smells) with a malty balance. Dry, smooth and bitter finish. Very good IPA. Costly with the postage I paid, but well worth it! obxdude10 (1556), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2004 Deep amber color, decent off-white head that laced around the glass nicely, slight citrus & pine notes, not quite up to snuff, a little disappointing, medium body, nice hoppy flavors, not at all a huge imperial pale ale, this would make for a decent regular IPA but not an imperial one
