| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 16, 2004 This was simply a great IPA. The color was dark orange, similar to the color of a Maerzen with a thin white head. The aroma was of hops, and the taste followed through being hoppy, yet balanced. A great seasonal and definitely one worth trying. jasonp (1509), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 14, 2004 Updated: Jun 7, 2004Great IPA! Pours a dark copper/amber with a nice off-white head. Stronger taste and more alcohol content than an IPA but not enough crazy hoppiness to be considered an imperial IPA. I have the feeling that this would get better ratings if it was classified as a regular IPA, but what do I know. Has a nice strong hoppy feel with pine, citrus and grapefruit flavors. Man, this is EXPLODING with great flavor. Has a nice, smooth mouthfeel. A little pricey but highly recommended. VAYankee (248), Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 29, 2004 Clear brown color with an offwhite head. Aroma is sweet and nicely hoppy(pine). Flavor is spicy hops blended with ample malt. Finishes nicely dry and smooth with a pleasant bitterness. Excellent. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2004 acquired from cquiroga. one of the more weird colors i've seen for a beer, copperish, but with a greenish tint. head is thick and creamy and almond colored. hops are very subdued in the aroma. mostly caramel malts and some pepper and a little citrus with the caramel being quite dominant. Flavor is bitter chocolate, caramel with a an orangey quality. Thanks to cquiroga for this! BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2004 Nice hop aroma, with some cloves and allspice in there too. The hops were balanced by a sweet clove and citrus flavor. Really smooth finish. I was impressed. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 10, 2004 What a crazy label, oh, so, colorful, with that mixed-up, Santa-hatted fish (salmon? trout?) But,let's open it it up and see what's inside...deep orange color, full head, big, blooming froth, leaving loads of lace. Aroma: ah, perfect hoppiness! Pine, and pineapple, apricot, peach, citrus aplenty, too, this is exactly what I like in an IPA aroma, oh, yeah! So, let us taste...Rrrrrr! Great, big bitterness, at first, blazing over the palate, huge hop attendance, but a large maltiness is also immediately noticed, and matches incredibly well with the massive hop content. Sharp. bitter, then just tasty fruit, very delicious, ...man, I'm sold on this one, and it's just now jumped to the top of my fave IPA list. Damn, this is dazzling, thank goodness it's a bomber, anything less, I would have felt cheated and teased. Yum, yum, and I'll say it again, yu-u-um! steview (901), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2004 smells hoppy, peanutbutter cookies, yum! small white head, murky brown body, orange highlight. a bundle of your typical iipa flavors yet again done well. i'm just a fan of iipa ;o) (however, i didn't care much for the 120min) this is sweet yet hoppy. for the most part pine, caramel, peanutbutter... reminds me of a barley wine and a brown ale as well as an ipa. it's lip-lickable and leaves a little wet. it feels great. it's not watery and thin and it's just a little thick - it's cloy without the cloy. i'm a fan! this kicks my ass, too.
