| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 15, 2008 In short: A highly drinkable refreshing IPA with focus on juicy fruits flavours. Excellent.
How: Bottle 22oz. Sample at Cathschlag birthday party tasting.
The look: Clear copper-ruby body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose of pine-needles and tropical fruits. Body if soft and velvety for the style, a little yeasty, moderately sweet, a whole lot of juicy tropical fruits, some pine-cone juice. The juicy fruity flavours are so dominant that they totally overwhelmed the malt caramel. Round and smooth with a juicy bitterness. This is drinkability over intensity. Wow, that’s a kick-ass IPA, with Midnight Sun Alaska could become the new California, and with the climate changes who knows…

Medium strong pine sap, citrusy hop aroma. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. Great flavors of sweet caramel and brown sugar blending perfectly with bitter grapefruit and pine hop flavors that sting your tongue. Reminds me of Nugget Nectar, heavy on the sweet stuff with a strong hop profile. Great beer. MatSciGuy (631), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

Aroma is pine resin, citric hops, and a pretty good malt backbone. Flavor matches aroma. One of the better balanced DIPA’s I’ve had. Skyview (4020), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates toa fine film and no ring. Aroma of sweet and fruity caramel malt, grapefruit, citrus zest, a touch of lime, and some tropical fruit. Taste is mildly bitter, medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of light caramel malt with some tropical fruit, grapefruit and a touch of pine. Finish is typical double IPA bitterness that lingers a little after the finish. jcwattsrugger (5250), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Amazing aroma of fruity (pineapple, mango, papaya) and piney hops accompanied by malt. Superb flavor of fruity (again, pineapple, mango and papaya) and piney hops with a decent malt backbone and a dry, bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. This is an awesome IIPA, the tropical fruits provided by the hops remind me of Dreadnaught, I love Midnight Sun!
