Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 30, 2008 Received a 22-oz bomber from Liquidsolutions.biz and shared with the Minnesota gang at the Heritage Liquors Inauguration beer tasting in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates toa fine film and no ring. Aroma of sweet and fruity caramel malt, grapefruit, citrus zest, a touch of lime, and some tropical fruit. Taste is mildly bitter, medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of light caramel malt with some tropical fruit, grapefruit and a touch of pine. Finish is typical double IPA bitterness that lingers a little after the finish. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 23, 2008 bottle @Vero Beach Throwdown-pours a dissipating off white head and ruby red color. Aroma is great/intense, citrus/pine hops, some medium malt. Taste is citrus/pine hops, some medium malt. Medium body. Nice. Thanks Gunhaver/Geiger for sharing. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle at dark lord day. One of my least favorite releases from MS. Pours and amber body with white head. Aroma is floral hoppiness, sugar, and pine. Flavor is very hoppy with some light fruit. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy of TomDecapolis, thanks! Pour a clear copper color with a very thin head. Amazing aroma of fruity (pineapple, mango, papaya) and piney hops accompanied by malt. Superb flavor of fruity (again, pineapple, mango and papaya) and piney hops with a decent malt backbone and a dry, bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. This is an awesome IIPA, the tropical fruits provided by the hops remind me of Dreadnaught, I love Midnight Sun! (Rating #1664) leeburg (146), Juneau, Alaska, USA Apr 12, 2008 NIce reddish orange with active head. Sweet hoppy aroma, sweet initial taste, lingering bitter finish. Drank it with a little bit of a cold, so I may have to re-rate. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 5, 2008 I have never been a big fan of this beer or its summer sister in Sockeye Red. I just thought that they were merely okay. The ingreidents added to this to make it "winter like" just don’t really seem to mesh and it comes across as overly hopped and slightly unbalanced due to all those extras. Somtimes this brewery tends to go a little overboard. Sometimes it’s better to just keep it simple. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 31, 2008 Really good solid IPA. Dark orange. Malty backbone but big biting hop flavor. Easy drinker to boot. Would happily order again. Another great brew from Midnight Sun.
