lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2008 pours a dark amber with ai rich head. Smell is very fresh and clean with evergreen and pine scented hops. Taste is bitter and fresh again with a strong piney hoppy flavor and lasting bitterness. Some richness in the flavor as well. Didn’t blow me away, but was still nice. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle. Nose is loaded with sage followed by a touch of hops. Clear amber with patchy head. Boring flavor, dry bitterness with a coarse palate. oreogobbler (217), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 3, 2008 Pours a dark golden brown, filmy head. Wonderful smoked malt and chocolate aroma. Dry bitter smoke hops with a well balanced wood flavor. Palate is a little thin and watery. This is an IPA?! Seriously? Alright. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 23, 2008 This brew sports a clear, extremely dark crimson red body. A small, frothy, cream colored head settles to a wispy film with a prominent edge. Lacing is spotty and scattered. Dark caramel sets the malt base, accompanied by a hefty dose of dry grains and copious amounts of grassy and resinous pine hops. The flavor is bold in its aggresive, bitter hop character. Substantial caramel malts and even a touch of honey attempt to balance this one out, but ultimately the scale tips towards sharp and bitter. Dry grasses and sharp, green pine attack the tongue. The body is substantial and slightly syrupy. This aggressive brew has some Arrogant Bastard in it. Solid offerring. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Feb 20, 2008 Bottle shared with Pantanap before "An evening with Pantanap #3". Dark ruby brown with small biege head. Grassy green hop aroma with caramel malt. Green pine flavor with grapefruit, caramel, good strong bitterness but balanced. Medium creamy body. Well done, nice and hoppy. Thanks Kan! gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 17, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008Pours a lovely ruby red, with creamy lacing. Very fresh floral hops in the nose, and citrus and lemon. Quite delightful. Syrupy hops in the mouth, with a tastebud-raping maltiness that balances it out. Warming, quick thick and lovely, with a bitter finish. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Feb 17, 2008 Courtesy gunhaver. Pours a clear amber, with a small, bubbly off white head. Smells ofcitrus hops, some pine, and fairly large doses ofgrapefruit citrus. The flavorseemed to be much of the same, as it had more citrus than pine. The hops were big, but the balance seemd pretty good for a double IPA. Good dose ofhop bitterness in the finish and lingering aftertaste. Well done brew. I need to try more beers from these guys. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Feb 5, 2008 Bottle shared by captaincougar at the footsex gathering. The only thing I wrote in my notes for this one was: very nice. 4.1. I guess I’ll say I agree with steveo. Thanks for sharing Tom!
