decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 5, 2008 A bottle shared by the GA Crew at Foothills. A double deep amber cherry pour. Very nice aroma of citrus hops and semi sweet caramelly malt comes through as well. Very nice hop flavor that has excellent maltiness that balance it out very nicely. Soldid palate and very good carbonation. Wow a damn good IIPA. I liked alot. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 3, 2008 22 oz bomb! Seeing as how double ipa was on the bottle, I wasn’t expecting to see this nice dark ruby red pour. Aroma is a blast of earthy, grapefruit hops and a touch of malt...reminds me of the hop bill on Wrath. Flavor is somewhat similar as the intense earthy hops play the featured role. Bitter hop bite really lingers in the center of your tongue...this makes it perfectly acceptable to take your time with this guy as you can enjoy the flavor between sips. Robust caramel malts accompany the lingering bitter finish. Lush mouthfeel and ok carbonation...overall, a nice enjoyable imperial ipa (more of a hop inspired double red)....would love another bottle. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 1, 2008 bottle from bottletrek.....pours a transparent dark reddish brown with a thin soapy off white head.....intense aroma of fresh tropical hops with some sweet malt poking through at certain points.....flavors threw me for a loop since malt played more of a role, moreso than the earthy hops. finish leaned more towards the hop by adding some bitterness but the hop profile overall was pretty tame....a pretty well balanced iipa. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 27, 2008 22 oz. bottle - pours clear and dark amber with think off-white head; piney and citrus aromas are in your face; malts dominate the hops in the flavors; slightly creamy finish and bitter aftertaste; pretty nice and much more my style than their obliteration II jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jan 26, 2008 Pours a three finger off-white head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Nice clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy nose. Flavor piney, grapefruit but some sweetness. Drying finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Decent DIPA. $7.99 for a 22oz bottle from John’s Marketplace Portland, OR. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Jan 23, 2008 Thanks to xmarcnolanx for sharing this brew. Pours bronze with an off-white head. The aroma has very dank oniony hops with lightly sweet fruity hops as well as perfume and pine. Medium very smooth body with light semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with toasty malt, sweet dankness and woody / earthy hops. The finish adds light spicy hops. Very good IIPA. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 7, 2008 Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of musky hops, earthiness, pine, light carmel, light grapefruit and hints of orange. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, pine, grapefruit and orange peel with a smoooth dry lingering bitter finish. Excellent IIPA smells like you could smoke it! xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Jan 5, 2008 Aroma: Damn this shit is dank. I want to have sex with this beer. I want it to stick its dick in me. I mean, what?
Appearance: very amber and burnt sugar color. Dark brown for the plebes.
Flavor: Very solid bitter, dank taste with lots of malt, but still unbalanced towards the hops.
Palate: Not so much cloying and viscous, but very nice sharp and drinkable for 8 percent.
Overall: I like this beer a lot. Not world-class, but very very solid.
