Commercial Description:
When the loveable "hopheads" at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse requested a winter version of alehouse favorite Sockeye Red IPA, our brewers instinctively spawned CoHoHo Imperial IPA. CoHoHo begins with generous measures of pale two-row and specialty malts along with spirit-boosters like maple syrup, brown sugar and honey. Hefty doses of Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops beautifully balance that outrageous malt bill and heighten the festive character of this exuberant beer. Whatever the celebration, make merry with CoHoHo Imperial IPA.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of grapefruit, leading to a dry bitter and strawy end. Nice.

Score: 2.9 to 3.8

sweet crystal malt aroma with lots of floral and citrus hops and a touch of piney sweetness, huge sweet crystal malt flavor, tons of balancing hops with citrus and pine in the forefront, light bitterness adds balance without detracting from the hop flavor, fresh is best

I can see the headline now: Busy beer label causes seizures in beer geek., and don’t get me started on the tacky salmon reference...damn someone though that was clever.

Oh, you want me to talk about the beer? Sorry. The colour is golden-amber...an attractive golden-amber. Don’t know the intangible that makes it better all the other "golden-amber" beers out there but it is to my eyes a pretty beer. The aroma is spicy, minty and toasty. Overall the character is moderate for style, with the expected citrus and toast notes, but not particularly chewy. Nothing awesome, but quite enjoyable.

Small off-white head atop a clear copper body. Aroma is pine and fruit (cherry, melon), some grapefruit. Taste is fairly sweet, not especially bitter, fruity, some spice, some pine and grapefruit. Finishes moderately bitter pine. Moderately full body. Nothing remarkable about this one, other than the price relative to the quality. In my book, a subpar I2PA (though as my rating attests, an above-average beer).
