COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the loveable "hopheads" at Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse requested a winter version of alehouse favorite Sockeye Red IPA, our brewers instinctively spawned CoHoHo Imperial IPA.

CoHoHo begins with generous measures of pale two-row and specialty malts along with spirit-boosters like brown sugar and honey. Hefty doses of Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops beautifully balance that outrageous malt bill while juniper berries heighten the festive character of this exuberant beer.

Make Merry all Winter Long...

Bomber from Bottleworks on my PASS trip, shared by ck1. Pours brownish with a white head. Aroma has malt, pine and citrus. Taste is of sweet brown sugar, citrus. Fairly smooth. Finishes a very good blend of sweet and bitter. It grew on me.

22 oz. bottle from the Best Damn Beer Store. I’m guessing it’s from this past winter, based on the label and intended season. Oh well. Pours a clear amber with a moderate off-white head that forms a small lasting cap and laces the glass. Notes of tea, lemon citrus, caramel, sugars, earth, honey, and pine. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, sweet, bitter mouthfeel. Has held up pretty well. Now I’m wondering how good it is fresh.

Bottle. Earthy orange malt and weedy grass aroma. Amber with moderate head. Lightly sweet orange malt and moderately bitter weedy hay flavor. Medium body. A bit rough.

Flarra.

Gott gotteligottgott!!

Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a fairly clear, orangey gold color, with a modest layer of off white foam, and spotty lacing. The nose was dank & earthy, with a bit of citrus & resin, and some mellowing, honey sweetness. Medium bodied, with average carbonation, the taste included a moderate, earthy & rindy, hop bitterness, some gin-like character, and fair alcohol presence undoubtedly amped by the added fermentables. Not all that "imperial", but a decent enough IPA.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Very good aroma and pours with a good amount of off white head. I cannot put my finger on the qualities I would expect from an imperial IPA. The beer looks a little murky, I think I got the bottom half of the bottle. I can see a fair amount of carbonation. Has a certain amount of body on the first sip, but, the taste disappears fairly quickly off the pallet.

"imperial ipa with brown sugar, honey and juniper berries. 85 ibu. darker in appearance and better balanced, though the hops are lively and fresh. bottled 9/2010. honey is the main player, then brown sugar, with just a hint of the berries coming through. nice beer, but nice don’t cut it at $12 a pop."

Bottle bought at City Beer in February 2014. A bit hazy amber with a medium head. Aroma of malt, hops, spices and fruit. Also some caramel. Similar taste. Fairly relaxed and easy to drink.
