blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 29, 2009 Bottle (22oz) shared with garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of j&m. Labeled ’Panty Peeler’. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, oranges, candi sugar, honey, herbs (coriander I guess) and spices. Slightly sweet flavour of bubble gum, fruit, yeast, herbs and spices. Some bitterness in the finish. Alcohol’s well hidden. Medium bodied. Pretty good, nothing great but I like it. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jan 28, 2009 Hazy golden pour with a very small white head and zero lacing. Hefty coriander over a nice malt scent and some orange backdrop. Very orange flavor with a nice coriander burn and the typical yeast flavor. Solid offering and a fantastic label and name of course. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2009 2009-01-16. Lightly hazy golden yellow body with a modest off-white head. (3+) Aroma of sweet pale malt, with spices over top. Coriander? (7+) Flavour is similar with a sweet pale malt base, light spice and coriander. Smooth average to medium palate. Rather pleasant. Bottle labeled Panty Peeler from Brown Jug, Anchorage kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA Jan 12, 2009 Pours light copper with nice white head. Nose is orange and spice. Flavor is orange, with bread dough and spice. It does have that Belgian yeast also in the flavor, and once I get smart, I’ll figure out what to call it Very crisp with a nice sweet finish. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Jan 6, 2009 22oz bottle. Slowly starting to enjoy this style. Definitely a fan of the brewer... Spicy, phenolic aroma of Belgian yeast, cloves and some citrus zest. Some bread crust and dried tree bark as far as the malt profile goes. Mostly spice and yeast forward nose. Pours a brilliant clear copper with evidence of intense carbonation and a thick white head. Flavor is mostly sweeter malt. Candi sugar. Citrus zest. Slightly rubbery yeast. Bread dough and more tree bark. Only the slightest essence of coriander on the tongue. Mostly candi sugar and yeast. Medium bodied. Snappy carbonation with a distracting oiliness on the tongue. Finishes short and mostly sweet with only the smallest touch of yeast. Thanks Todd! Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 26, 2008 Bottle in Japan. Pours a hazy orange golden body with a white creamy head. Sweet fruity aroma, citrus, pear, and zesty spices pepper like. Dam fine take on a trippel. haha funny name too. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bomber from Hannont, thanks Todd. Shared with my girlfriends family christmas day 2008. Pours orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is light and sweet, touch of spice, touch of orange peel and coriander. Taste is light, spice prickly on the tongue. A little shallow on the palate and as Im not a big tripel guy this one has too much spice for me, oh well. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2008 2007 bomber, aged about one year. The cloudy, orange-amber body is topped with a massive, frothy column of off white foam. Displaying excellent retention, the head slowly settles, but not without leaving dense, sticky, cloud-like patches of foam on the glass. Aromatics include light candy sugar, lemon chiffon, orange peel, and mild coriander. There is a creaminess that smooths out some of the candy sugar sweetness, which I appreciate, along with a uniquely Belgian, doughy yeast profile. Flavors, too, show a formidable candied orange and lemon zest element, which works nicely with the creamy, sugary sweetness and delicate, earthy spicing. Nutmeg also emerges, lending further woodsy bitterness, while peppery, floral hops show strong on the finish. Substantially bodied, with fizzy, lively carbonation, the sugary profile gets a bit heavy over time, but is sublime in low doses. I am not a tripel fan, in general, but this one is right up there with the best that any American brewery I have sampled has to offer.
