2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of fusel alcohol, gum, cotton candy, lemon zest.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.
Pretty rough, surprisingly. Husky malt, very boozy, candy-ish, etc. Not my kind of Belgian strong.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a golden color with a creamy off white colored head. Aroma is sweet caramel, floral, and fruit. Taste is a strong floral upfront with clove and spice, transitions into sticky sweet malt or fruit. Leaves the tongue wanting more.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Originally reviewed: 9/21/09. Poured into my tulip glass a murky orange/gold with a big frothy off-white head on top. Retention is minimal, and there’s little lacing. Small dark chunks float throughout this brew. I’m guessing it’s yeast. Smells slightly peppery and yet sweet. Mild fruity tones waft out like peach and nectarine. Nice.
The mouth is bubbly and crisp, but not harsh in any way. Carbonation level is spot on. This is a tamer version of a Belgian Pale from my experience. The yeasty quality that I find in most is muted; it’s pleasant. Flavors of honey and nectarines are the main players here. This a wonderful fruit-forward Belgian Pale that I am honored to have tried.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured into a snifter. Big thanks to Bilbosnuts for this.
4.0 A: Hazed yellow-orange-brown color. Two fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is decent and moderate amounts of lacing left.
4.0 S: Quite earthy with a good amount of hay, dirt, and rotting wood. Moderate peppery spiciness, lightly sugary, flowery and earthy hops, and a light citrus. Peach and apple fruitiness.
3.5 T: A good bit like the nose. Peppery spice, hay, earthy, woody. Moderate yeastines, lightly sugary with earthy hop flavor. Peach and apple fruitiness.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good active carbonation. Spritzy, but could be more so. Lightly creamy and could use some more of that too.
3.5 D: Another tasty beer by MS. They never let me down.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Healthy Spirits into a Midnight Sun goblet.
Pours a beautiful golden color with a massive fluffy white head that sticks around for 15+ minutes. Loads and loads of lacing on the way down. The beer itself is perfectly clear with plenty of visible carbonation bubbles for the duration.
Unfortunately, the rest of the beer isn’t quite as good. The nose brings some very light fruit notes plus a touch of alcohol and some nice phenols. Not much depth or complexity. The flavor is quite similar. Some fruit and pepper there, but the yeast isn’t expressive enough.
Body is light-medium with high carbonation and an odd dryness to the finish. It’s not quite crisp given how high in carbonation it is. As it warms, this appears to be a bit of graininess and accompanying tannins.
Overall, this is just okay, though extraordinarily impressive in its Duvel-like appearance.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bomber from matt 10/20/11.
hazy honey tinted yellow with a soapy white head and lots of clingy lacing.
the nose is fairly citrusy... orange along with loads of herbaceous-ness....fennel, grass, apricot jam, vanilla, spiciness and esters.
the flavor is the same but very spicy and dry with a bitterish yeasty finish.
it is kept quite drinkable from prickly carbonation and spiciness. 7/4/7/4/16

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a cloudy amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and dough aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and lively carbonation. Medium to heavy yeast sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer.
