jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Jan 30, 2006 On tap at the 06 Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival. Big bubbled white head capping a clear, yellow beer. Noticable citrus nose. Light but solid body. Lemon-lime citrus hop flavors on top of the bready malts. Very refreshing lighter beer. timmcd64 (4), Eagle River, Alaska, USA does not count Nov 12, 2005 2005 on tap. Murky, golden easy drinker with a smell of green. Good summertime beverage. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 23, 2005 Updated: Aug 29, 2005Had this beer on tap at the Salmon Bake restaurant in McKinley Park, Alaska. It was the tourist town at the east entrance of Denali National Park. Anyways, they claim that this offering from the midnight sun brewing company is only available on tap at their location. That said, I hope they keep it that way. It smells bad and doesn’t taste much better. Blonde and uninteresting, the best thing about this beer is that the waiters have pretty cool shirts advertising it. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 17, 2005 Draft sample at the brewery 7/8/05: Straw-colored with a decent head. Starchy aroma but an interesting bitter tinge beyond the standard Kolschiness ... good stuff. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 3, 2004 Sampled on tap at the brewery. Cloudy, light golden appearance, light fluffy white head. Fresh clean, mown grass aroma, slight buttery taste with a good malty backbone that adds some sweet doughy notes. Smooth, silky mouthfeel. All in all, a decent Kölsch, quite refreshing. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 1, 2004 (Draft: Midnight Sun Brewing Co. in Anchorage, AK) Quite malty for a kölsch, in fact malty enough and balanced that it could qualify as a European pilsener; The maltiness balances the moderate bitterness fairly well; Clean and crisp on the palate; The nose has a nice bit of maltiness to balance out the moderate hops and citrus aromas; Light golden color; Off-white head has good size and decent retention
