Commercial Description:
Intriguing doses of sweet spices, dark cocoa and pumpkin transform an exceptional porter into a mesmerizing potion. Pour this tantalizing brew into a snifter and seek solace in the depths of its darkness. Cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg seem familiar, but this brew’s deep dark secrets will forever haunt you.

Bottle pours dark brown/black color with tan head. Aroma is mainly cocoa. Luscious mouthfeel. Flavor is strong cocoa, pumpkin spices, coffee, chocolate, and finishes with a slight sweet aftertaste. I didn’t really get any pumpkin flavor at all. I did notice the spices that were there. Nice brew.

Sampled at Logan’s pre-GABF party. Dark pour with a tan head. Pumpkin, cinnamon, and chocolate aroma. Understated pumpkin flavor, not overwhelmingly sweet like many pumpkin beers. Some coffee flavor as well. A very good pumpkin beer.

Yet another fabulous MSBC beer thanks to "AKfaust"! Colour... very dark brown with a lovely, thick, tan head. Nose... truly pumpkin-like (a damn rare thing in "pumpkin" ales and beers!) with plenty o’ pie spice and some molasses, to boot. Palate... Geez, what a pumpkin-spice monster! Loads of pumpkin, cinnamon, ground nutmeg and whole clove as well as vanilla, molasses, chocolate and roasted pumpkin seeds, all with a delightfully creamy mouthfeel and long finish! Not quite as good (in my opinion) as the oak aged version, but one of the finest pumpkin beers/ales ever!

2008 Bottle - Thanks Toby! - Pours dk brown with a medium beige head...aroma is light pie spice, dry cocoa, and roasty malt...flavour is similar, clove coriander and cinnamon...pumpkin and spice in the mouth right of the bat, with some dry malt, and roasty grain adding some bitterness midway thru...after having both versions now, I can now identify the difference, as this one retains a bit more bitterness...great stuff...

2008 version thanks to Toby. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. The aroma is nice; sweet vegetable/pumpkin notes, spices and toasted malts. The flavor was great; chocolates and toasted malts meet spicy pumpkin and spices. Very drinkable and good. Very enjoyable.

Pour from a bomber courtesy, Gillard. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time, and it did not disappoint. The pours is a dark chestnut brown color topped by a small, bubbly tan head. The aroma shows hints of the rich cocoa and milk chocolate malt base to go with the cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove spices. There is a hint of fleshy pumpkin, but it is in the background. The flavor is similar with the rich milk chocolate base spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. The fleshy pumpkin flavor pushes it’s way forward and blends in perfectly with the chocolate and spices and adds a hint of tartness to the beer. Full bodied and very creamy mouthfeel with a cocoa and cinnamon finish. This is one of the best beers with pumpkin I have had period. I would love to try this again and sample it next to the oak aged version.

Gillard shared this at Cigar City! Dark brown pour, tan head. This shit is better than the oak aged version! Aroma has some great chocolate, spices, pumpkin and some spice cake. Flavor is light on the pumpkin with full chocolate and spice...very full flavored and very nice.
