AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 16, 2008 Deep ruby red with khaki head. Mild aroma is brown sugar and caramel. Medium body. Decent nut brown flavors of molasses, brqwn sugar, light cocoa with some dusty roasted malts. DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 14, 2008 Bottle, purchased at Thibideau’s in Juneau. Bright red-brown, thick tan head leaving generous lace. Very bready aroma, along with nuts and chocolate. Breadcrusts, caramel, mild nutty and chocolatey notes. Hops were there too, but really take a back seat to the malt here. Very nice. ideardorff (25), Palmer, Alaska, USA Jul 31, 2008 On Tap in my keggerator for a friends wedding. I picked up a 5gal keg of this and a 5gal keg of Hef for a friends wedding. I thought the easy drinking lighter Hef would go quicker but the Brown was polished off first.
Aroma: bread, nuts, roasty, earthy, woody
Appearance: brown, hazy, tan foam
Flavor: medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium sourness
Palate: medium body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish
One of my favorite beers from Midnight Sun Brewery, always good on tap and decent out of the bottle. hoppybeers4me (15), Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2008 On tap at the brewery July 11. Easy to drink brown ale. Nothing really special, was mildly disappointed, but still bought the long sleeved Tshirt, since the art is really great on all of the Midnight Sun products. Would be happy to give it another try next visit, as it’s hard to fairly rate beers when you are trying so many styles back to back. beerbill (1243), Laurel, New York, USA Jul 13, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a mostly clear brown with a moderate tan head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left a nice curtain of lace all the way to the end. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, a hint of coffee, and a leafy aroma. The flavor is again lightly roasted malt and a bit of coffee, followed up by some mild-moderate hops. Light-medium bodied.
