Poured clear, deep reddish-brown with a short, dense cap of beige head. The aroma picked up toasted nutty and semi-sweet chocolate notes primarily with accents of cola and earth.. just what I need out of my brown ales. The flavor had caramel, nutty notes, and dry-roasted chocolate at the core, with earth and bitter chocolate around.. lost a bit of body on the finish. Medium-bodied and toasty on the palate, just a little bit empty at times.. carbonation held up well. I could use this on tap at the house. graham515 (424), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Pours brown into the glass with an off white head. Aroma is roasted grain with a little sweet malt. Great flavor in this beer with a balance between roast, sweetness, and bitterness. Would definitely have this one again Cletus (5052), Connecticut, USA

This brown was not unlike others... good palate, limited flavor, light caramel, good carbination, nothing special... boFNjackson (1269), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2009 Bottle... Poured dark reddish/brown with a thick, tan head. Aroma of dark fruits -- raisins and plums -- and yeasty, sweet malts. Well carbonate with flavors of dark malts and some hops towards the end. It sort of thinned out towards the finish as I wished it would have taken a shape similar to its aroma. Sweet water and roasted caramel accents. As it warmed, it started to take close to it’s aroma with the oak, wood-like grains and a yeasty ester. Aurelius (2647), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2009 This was a well-cellared sample - perhaps 8 years old. Deep brown, good label. Very malty aroma, somewhat vanilla-ed. Thin mouth, coffee flavor, simple syrup sweetness. Decent. Roasty aftertaste. danielcurtis81 (888), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2009 22 oz bottle I picked up on a recent trip to Seattle. Pours a medium to dark brown hue with a small faint brown head. A fair amount of lacing. Average malt aroma, cereal, light roast coffee. Flavors are very malty, coffee builds very nicely. Decent brown ale. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2009 6/11/2009: Midnight Sun Kodiak Brown Ale has an average appearance for a brown ale (brown color with a small beige head). I has a weak milkd chocolate/coffee (watery mocha) aroma and similar flavor. It is slightly yeasty in the middle with a roasty finish. It has a smooth, milky texture in the mouth. There is nothing especially noteworthy about this beer, but it is a solid, drinkable brown ale.
