COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rugged yet smooth, Kodiak Brown Ale balances caramel and roasted malts with enticing Northwest hops. Perle and Willamette hops accent without overpowering this American brown ale’s intrepid maltiness. The result is uniquely delicious.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit readily found in Alaska, Kodiak Brown Ale invites you to take the road less traveled. Kodiak has remained one of our most popular beers since we first fired up the brew kettle in 1995, proving that Alaskans are not afraid of the dark.

Pair Kodiak Brown Ale with comfort foods—macaroni and cheese, lasagna, burritos; pub grub—burgers, nachos, deep-fried bites—and just about anything prepared on the grill. You can also just kick back and enjoy a tall cool one when you want to relax and enjoy LiFe.

Pretty decent for a brown. Pours a dark robust brown and the taste has a hint of hops. Not too much going on with it

Pretty good brown, got it in cans and you can definitely tell, perhaps it’s better in a bottle. Still like it though

Canned. Mahogany pour with cream colored head. Weird nutty aroma. Malts. Moderate hops. An ok brown

This is a dry brown ale, without a lot of malt flavor. It tastes mostly of brown bread, and there is a dash of floral sweetness in the aroma. Good.

Can:   Low malt and hop example, a little sweet, some very slight toasted malts.   Touch of honey and biscuit as well.   A little bready.   Decent balance, not a hoppy brown.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, albeit it does feel a bit smooth.   A little dry and chalky even.   Malty example if anything.   Decent, but a little boring.

Poured flat, no head, minimal carbonation at Humpy’s Airport outlet. Clear brown, dark but not opaque, Very nutty, very fruity, very sweet. Brown sugar, hazelnut, dates, toast, ripe fruit, more brown sugar. Mellow earthy hops, flavor lingers at the front on the palate. Despite a bad pour, a decent brown and a good pair for the crab cakes.

Draught. Pours a mostly clear dark brown color with a smallish tan head on it. Nose is a little nutty and has some nice toasting to it. Taste is drier and nuttier than I would have thought, with just a slight hint at some caramel.

Draft Old Notes (Humpy’s-ANC)-Pours a dark brown with a decent head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, nutty, and slight dried fruit. Taste of nuts, malt, and caramel. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and easy drinking. Nice brew.

Bottle. Deep brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of cafe au lait, chocolate milk. Taste is Italian chocolate soda, light spice. Decent.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark reddish pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of metallic, grass, slight cardboard, hints of earth, slight chocolate, nuts. Taste is cardboard, paper, slight grass, metal, hints of chocolate, hints of nuts, finishing bitter, slightly dry. Eh, bad.

Bottle. Newer label than that, though. Not sure where from, my parents picked it up for me on a recent Alaskan vacation. Pours a nice deep clear brown. Thin mouthfeel....light on the tongue. Heavy on the hazelnut, bigtime. Good beer for the style, but not a style I have often.
