Rugged yet smooth, Kodiak Brown Ale balances caramel and roasted malts with enticing Northwest hops. Perle and Willamette hops accent without overpowering this American brown ale’s intrepid maltiness. The result is uniquely delicious.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit readily found in Alaska, Kodiak Brown Ale invites you to take the road less traveled. Kodiak has remained one of our most popular beers since we first fired up the brew kettle in 1995, proving that Alaskans are not afraid of the dark.

Pair Kodiak Brown Ale with comfort foods—macaroni and cheese, lasagna, burritos; pub grub—burgers, nachos, deep-fried bites—and just about anything prepared on the grill. You can also just kick back and enjoy a tall cool one when you want to relax and enjoy LiFe.

From 12 oz. can to glass

Appearance: Pours brown with a thin tan film of tight bubbles.

Aroma: Chocolate roast, walnuts and bread crust.

Taste: Roasted malt, bread crust, euro hop spice with a little twang at the end.

Mouthfeel: On the thin side of medium bodied and prickly.

Overall: A brown ale that wasn’t bad but didn’t knock my socks off. Very easy to drink for those not looking for a sessionable hoppy pale.

Pours a finger of head on a brown body. The aroma is grainy with some caramel and nuts. The taste has a big chocolate and nutty flavors. Good balance. The texture is softer. An enjoyable brown ale.

Clear brown with a big tan head. Aroma malty and toasty, some toffee and fruit. Taste of burnt toast, and something hearty.. gravy maybe? Sounds gross but is actually good. Malty but not sweet. Can definitely see this going with shepherd’s pie. Quite nice.

"i like this brewer, but this one really doesn’t do much to seperate itself. fizzy light texture and body, with carmel malt, slight nuttiness and a splash of hops in the flavor and aroma. not bad, but not a standout."

Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Excellent Little Brother for the delivery! Murky brown, yellowish head. Nutmeg, a little dry, prune and figs and some more nuts in the nose. Tastes sweetish - more malty than bitter. Medium-to-full body, fairly carbonated, slightly nutty finish. Nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Cloudy brown with a beige head. Aroma of malt, yeast, overripe fruits, a bit of cardboard notes, caramel, mild hops, a light nutty note and a toasty hint. Sweetish flavor, caramelly, fruity, with mild toast and a mildly bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Light brown to be sure with a toast and nut aroma. Bready and light malt sweetness. Just OK.

Past notes. Bottle. Colour...amber-brown with a thin ecru head. Nose...rather malty with notes of biscuit and butterscotch. Palate...fairly frothy with Arrow biscuits up front and caramel notes mid palate. There’s just a titch of hops and then a goodly shot malt syrup before the quick dry finish.

Dark brown pour, off white head. Nose is chocolate malt. More sweet than Bitter. Middle is biscuits, molasses, and coco. Finish is light coffee and dark malt. Went great with a Gouda vintage 5 years.
