COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rugged yet smooth, Kodiak Brown Ale balances caramel and roasted malts with enticing Northwest hops. Perle and Willamette hops accent without overpowering this American brown ale’s intrepid maltiness. The result is uniquely delicious.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit readily found in Alaska, Kodiak Brown Ale invites you to take the road less traveled. Kodiak has remained one of our most popular beers since we first fired up the brew kettle in 1995, proving that Alaskans are not afraid of the dark.

Pair Kodiak Brown Ale with comfort foods—macaroni and cheese, lasagna, burritos; pub grub—burgers, nachos, deep-fried bites—and just about anything prepared on the grill. You can also just kick back and enjoy a tall cool one when you want to relax and enjoy LiFe.

Pours a dark chestnut brown body with a small, light beige head. Smells of roasted Malt and toasted nuts, but with light notes of caramel and chocolate. The roasted malts brings out a flavor of earthy, toasted nuts with a subtle caramel sweetness. Slight hint of dark fruit. There’s not much hopiness going on beyond a little light bitterness. Makes for a decent balance, and a somewhat dry Mouthfeel. Medium Bodied and Carbonation. Somewhere between an American Brown, and an English.

650ml bottle pours a deep brown color with a light tan head with good retention that settles to some really nice lacing. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts and mild hops. Taste is roasted malty bitterness and an underlying malty sweetness with a bit of nuttiness and a hoppy bitter finish. Very nicely balanced with a medium body and moderate carbonation. This is one fine brown ale.

10/30/11. 22oz bomber. Thanks to Bill for bringing this back from Alaska! Hazy brown pour with a small tan head. Muted chocolate aroma with a touch of what reminds me of spice - cinnamon almost - with burnt caramel. Nice smooth milk chocolate flavor with lingering caramel. Nice!

(tap) clear dark brown colour with small brown head; faint aroma of caramel, sour fruit; clean balanced flavour with long light sour finish; quite good but almost reminds me of sour ale not brown ale
