COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark and full-bodied, Mammoth Extra Stout provides a cozy blanket of warm and fuzzy flavors, including chocolate, caramel, coffee and nut. Huge portions of pale and specialty malts give this mammoth brew a complex palate while hops provide well-rounded balance.

Any time of year, pair the robust flavors of Mammoth Extra Stout with slow-roasted, caramelized meats and vegetables. Or contrast the deep dark roast flavors of this wonderful brew with silky soups; creamy pasta dishes, cheesecake or crème brulee; or berry fruits, compotes and sauces.

DISCOVER THE WOOLLY ONE.

GIJOE (621) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Pours dark black with a thick, frothy, cappuccino colored head that stays for quite a while. Not much aroma on this one. Faint hint of baked bread and molasses. A little earthy aroma and some chocolate and coffee notes come through while drinking it. Taste is malty sweetness up front with a wisp of grassy bitterness in the end. Slightly thin mouthfeel for me, but overall still a nice beer.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of bread, chocolate, pumpernickel, licorice, smoke and light dark fruit. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of licorice, dark fruit, dark fruit and soy. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Nice stuff.

Bottle with about a year of age on it. Nose of dark roast espresso with dried prunes and some soy. Very dark with fast fading head. Slightly viscous and oily. Taste follows nose. A big chewy palate. A step above your basic stout in complexity. Great with some slow braised carnitas.

Bottle, with different label art than pictured here. Near black in colour, with a thick brown head. Lots of lovely roast character here, espresso and bitter chocolate, but with an acidity that hints at dark cherries in the finish that balances it out perfectly. Very tasty.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, cappuccino head. Decent retention. The nose wafts milk chocolate and vanilla with a light pistachio component. Full-bodied and fatty with modest carbonation. The flavor features bittersweet dark chocolate and charcoal. Bitter, burnt, espresso finish.

Thanks to Andre 5k for the bomber! Poured deep brown with a well-proportioned, dense dark tan head. The aroma picked up near-burnt dark chocolate, licorice, and toasted bread-like notes with light herbal and vanilla accents.. seemed like there was going to be a little more tart/sourness than I wanted. The flavor found burnt licorice and other blended black malts, with vanilla and sour, burnt, malt-inspired notes around.. tangy and a tad medicinal on the grainy finish. Medium-bodied and very dry on the palate.. more sourness than I wanted.. overall a solid brew, but there was stuff I didn’t like.
