Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours black with a 3 finger foamy/creamy darkish tan head. Aroma is chocolate toffee. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, anise, toffee, coffee. Itís not exactly dry, but itís quite bitter. So complex I have no idea what the bitter is from. But it is. Great taste.

Aroma: dry roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate and just a hint of dark caramel sweetness
Flavor: rich chocolate flavor, lots of roasted character, dark caramel sweetness balances the roasted and brings out extra chocolate, touch of milky sweetness

Bomber poured a translucent dark reddish brown nearly black with a small lasting brown head. Aromaofroastiness, coffee, bakers cocoa and burnt carmel. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, bitter chocolate and light coffeewith a smooth lingering roasty finish.

22-oz. bottle from March 2002. Pours black with brown hints at the edges and a huge foamy tan head, fizzy. Dark roasted coffee and chocolate malt with musty oak notes and yeast (horse blanket). Dark roasted bitter coffee and chocolate flavor with a light acidic malty oak finish. Dark bodied and spicy full palate.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, cappuccino head. Decent retention. The nose wafts milk chocolate and vanilla with a light pistachio component. Full-bodied and fatty with modest carbonation. The flavor features bittersweet dark chocolate and charcoal. Bitter, burnt, espresso finish.

On tap. Pours with a black body and a large tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are of chocolate, toasty, roasty, bread, some vanilla, light smoke and a hint of anise. Very nice smelling. Flavors are earthy, nutty, roasty, licorice and milk chocolate. Light coffee. Medium bubbles with a full body.

Thanks to Andre 5k for the bomber! Poured deep brown with a well-proportioned, dense dark tan head. The aroma picked up near-burnt dark chocolate, licorice, and toasted bread-like notes with light herbal and vanilla accents.. seemed like there was going to be a little more tart/sourness than I wanted. The flavor found burnt licorice and other blended black malts, with vanilla and sour, burnt, malt-inspired notes around.. tangy and a tad medicinal on the grainy finish. Medium-bodied and very dry on the palate.. more sourness than I wanted.. overall a solid brew, but there was stuff I didnít like.
