Commercial Description:
Dark and full-bodied, Mammoth Extra Stout boasts a well-rounded melange of rich flavors, including chocolate, caramel, coffee, nut and date. Huge portions of pale and specialty malts give this mammoth brew a complex yet exceptionally smooth palate. Hops provide balance without overpowering the chewy malt profile.

22 oz bottle, via BA timmec64. Pours a clear black with mahogany edges under a two finger foamy light brown head that left nice lacing. Aroma is slightly sweet with light roasted and burnt malts. Notes of lactose, chocolate, and light coffee. Flavor is lactose sweetness and roasted malt up front fading to a burnt malt finish with some bitterness from the burnt malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with an oily texture and active fizzy carbonation. A very good Stout. Lots of lactose flavor and not thin in any aspect. Worth seeking out.

Black with wood stain brown around the edges. The head starts off a tan cream foam and gradually faded over the two hours to nothing, but spent most of those two hours completely covering the beer. The aroma is malty, chocolate, toffe and soy sauce. The flavor is much the same. Not overly sweet. It actually comes across much like an imperial stout, but lighter in flavor.

Courtesy of Puzzl. Thanks, Andy. The aroma is slightly soapy, but that subsides somewhat and dark malt and chocolate come though. Overall though the aroma lack intesnity and doesn’t exactly have me pining for the first sip.
The bosy is a deep black with maybe some very light notes of darl brown if you let the beer play in the light. The head diminishes rapidly from its original thumb thickness, but never fades all together and it a very nice dark mocha color and a desirable creamy consitency.
Fore is a bit watery and again a little detergent-y. Coffee and dark chocolate along with roasted malt and a decent burnt bitterness play from the middle to finish. There are also some light cream notes and a bit of stale of milk. Has some plusses, but has an equal tally of minuses.

Black beer with root beer like head and a nose of dark sweet molasses and some berry. Soft chocolate and subtle bittersweet coffee flavors. Nice hop bitterness in the middle. Soft mouthfeel. Very drinkable.

22 oz. bottle (3/06 bottled date) - My mother-in-law brought this back from Alaska. Pours a deep dark brown color with a good size tan head. Nice spotty lacing. Has a light roasted malt aroma. Has a semi-sweet chocolate flavor with a hint of vanilla. Medium body. A very nice stout. Way underrated. Thanks Ma V.

A solid black appearance with a moderate tan head. The aroma is chocolate, cookies, and some coffee. The flavor contains some chocolate, oatmeal raisin cookies. The palate is a bit thin and the finish is sweet. Overall a decent stout.

Opaque black with a tan, fizzy head that barely lasts, leaving an oily top with wisps and a a ring. Arome contains some dark malt, but this beer is infected. This is the third bottle of infected beer that I’ve bought from Midnight Sun and I’m quite upset. Who knows when the next time I’ll visit Alaska is.
