Commercial Description:
Dark and full-bodied, Mammoth Extra Stout boasts a well-rounded melange of rich flavors, including chocolate, caramel, coffee, nut and date. Huge portions of pale and specialty malts give this mammoth brew a complex yet exceptionally smooth palate. Hops provide balance without overpowering the chewy malt profile.

22-oz. bottle from March 2002. Pours black with brown hints at the edges and a huge foamy tan head, fizzy. Dark roasted coffee and chocolate malt with musty oak notes and yeast (horse blanket). Dark roasted bitter coffee and chocolate flavor with a light acidic malty oak finish. Dark bodied and spicy full palate.

22 oz. bottle (3/06 bottled date) - My mother-in-law brought this back from Alaska. Pours a deep dark brown color with a good size tan head. Nice spotty lacing. Has a light roasted malt aroma. Has a semi-sweet chocolate flavor with a hint of vanilla. Medium body. A very nice stout. Way underrated. Thanks Ma V.

I am rating this beer on a experience I had with thier 22oz bottle. Overall not Midnight Suns best effort. The truely deceptive thing about this beer is that out of the bottle it feels a little incomplete and the reality is that it is. This beer is SIGNIFICANTLY better when drank from a Nitris Draft system. The beer gets a compleatly different flavour (kinda mocha) and just a fabulous mouthfeel. It’s a compleatly different beer and is deffinatly the way it’s MENT to be drank.

Draft @ Humpy’s - A pretty solid stout, just smooth and creamy with some rich roastiness, and a touch of licorice and molasses. Nicely done without being overpowering.

Sweet, somewhat roasty, but rather light for a stout - let alone, ’Extra Stout.’ Not bad, but not overly impressed.

Roasted grain, Coffee and chocolate nose with a touch of hops. Same in the mouth. A little astringent. Notes of Black malt and tannins, and bright herbal flavors. Big Coffee/grain finish.

Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head. Creamy coffee and light roast, a bit stale in terms of the coffee character. A bit nutty with caramel accents. Nice brew overall.
