COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The days are long but the season is short. So what gives? Sleep! After doing more before midnight than most Outsiders do in a week, Alaskans deserve some down time. And these moments of relaxation demand more than that ordinary, non-distinct lawn mower beer. Celebrate a day well done with a beer done well—a seriously delicious IPA with some scorchin’ hops.

Our new seasonal double IPA is designed to keep you incredibly hopped up spring through summer.

Are you ready for a MELTDOWN?

I liked this as a double IPA. Tons of piney NW hops. very little citrus, but there and pleasing. Not too over the head, but a great little beer. I’d drink again (but as Mike says, I never have a beer twice!).

Bottle shared by Arbitrator on BA. Pours clear copperish-amber with a nicely formed white head and good lacing. Aroma is fairly sweet caramel malt as well as citrusy hops. A little faded from age (>6 months I believe), but I won’t fault it for that. Flavor also exhibits some fading on the hop character but is still very good. Caramel and pale malt, with hops mainly of the citrusy variety. Grapefruit in particular. Medium-bodied and fairly palate wrecking. Nice mouthfeel. Pretty good beer overall, especially considering the age.

22oz courtesy of ditmier. Pours a hazy orange with a thick, yellowish white head. Excellent retention and retarded lacing. Aroma is tropical fruits, lemon sorbet, orange juice, some spicy alcohol. Lots of perfumey, subdued hops, and lots of oxidized apples. No pine resin or old strawberry cheesecake that taints many a DIPA. Taste is bitter, piney, lots of oxidized apples, light apple brandy, some light booziness that turns into almost a vodka shot after it warms.

A hopload, from City Beer Store. Dark body, with a lasting white head. Above average mouthfeel. You buy into bitterness, not very complex. A bomber is a lot. Still tasty and hop aromas.

A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d definitely get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. Bottle might have been a little old, would liek to try it again.

My Bottom Line:
Floral hops and their resinous aftertaste cap this Double IPA’s frothy mouthfeel, supported by chewy, honeyed cereals and alcohol warmth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy sheet of foam crowns the misty light amber, lacing nicely.
-This is not nearly aromatic enough for the style; bitterness is way more prominent than the aroma. Then again, this might be a sign that this brew was slightly past its prime after a few months in the bottle.
-These hops sculpt spruce tips and citrusy edges in the finish.
-This Double IPA might be loud and flavorful, but it is not really complex.

Bottle.

22oz bottle pours a hazy, orange yellow with a thin, creamy white head. Nose is classic DIPA, grapefruit, pine, citrus, light caramel. Flavor is extremely bitter, grapefruit, light caramel, orange juice. Finish is full bodied and bitter.

22oz from Healthy Spirits, SF. Enjoyed during the JCB family reunion in SF. Rock on! This was opened just a few shades below maximum coldness, perhaps to please the British element among us. Attractive pour of moderately cloudy pale orange, with a thick creamy head (nice mouthfeel too), and sticky retention. The nose was the first sign that this beer was not nearly as hoppy as advertised. Perhaps there was more age than expected, or perhaps it’s just considerable malty too. Not to say that hops were disappointing, because there was still a potent dank presence and it’s more than nominally DIPA. Still, not quite up to expectations.
