Dark brown amber with a caramel-brown foam head. Rich chocolate malt ball nose, lots of melanoidin and cocoa. Chocolate malt bomb body, with a bite to it as the hot pepper sticks to the back of the palate. Well-crafted and enjoyable, but quite a heavy pepper kick.

Muddy brown with no head. Aroma is chocolate, rum, dark fruits. Full bodied, lightly sticky mouthfeel, sweet and roasty on the palate with a light roughness of the finish. Taste is chocolate, oak, cocoa powder.

Bottle. Colour...almost black wit thin tan head. Nose...chocolatey, malty and roasty with notes of chile powder. Palate...yow! Spicy!! Spiced chocolate, spiced nuts, spiced everything! There’s a fair burn going on all over the palate. Some sweetness helps temper the spice but the burn goes on and on.

Bottle. Black body with fleeting tan foam. Dark chocolate, chili pepper, spicy, earthy aromas. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Smooth dark chocolate, roasty earthy flavors with a big chili pepper spice burn____lingering spicy finish----good.

22oz bottle. Poured a black color with an averaged sized head. Yep, peppers and burning pepper in the tastes/finish. Chooclate, cinnamon, and roast. To me, the pepper burn took away from all the tastes and left a burning finish.

Bomber thanks to the unloading AndyReynolds - cocoa flames. Lingering heat but not much of a kick in the nards. Bite weakens with every sip.

Bottle shared by Pinsky, 10/28/15. Dark brown color with a light brown head. Chocolate malts come through on the aroma. Spice and a little coffee. Flavor-wise, the spice really dominates. Heavy peppery/spice and heat are number one, while the chocolate is a strong two. Not what I expected. I thought the chocolate would be stronger, but I still like this beer.

22 oz. bottle, pours deep dark brown / black with a small tan head and loads of chunky sediment. Nose brings out a good mix of cocoa, cinnamon and chilis. Flavour brings out a good mix of chocolate and spicy peppers upfront, with a touch of cinnamon further back. Well-balanced, with the spiciness pretty prominent but not detracting. There is a ton of sediment in here that becomes rather nasty towards the finish. Good beer, but not really to my taste.

Poured from a bomber obtained from Tavour into a snifter. Aroma is of malt and chocolate. More milk chocolate than dark. Appearance is dark brown almost black with a very small tan head that dissipates rapidly. Taste is of chocolate a bit of funk but the main component is heat. This makes you feel like you have a sore throat. You get a burn deep in the throat and some burn on the lips and tongue. Spicy is an understatement. Once the head dissipates there is an oily film. I assume it is from what is making the heat. The beer does not have the nasty oily presence found in other pepper beers. Palate is nice ... what I’d expect from a strong ale. Overall I like this beer. It has a nice heat to it. Would be great to have with some mexican spicy food. Give a try if you never had. Well worth the experience. Cheers!
