3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle. Murky dark brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is strong bourbon with toffee, dark fruity, oak and alcohol. Flavor is boozy bourbon, dried cherries, sweet caramel, alcohol and oak. Medium to full body with no carbonation, pretty much completely flat. Would be a nice beer but the lack of carbonation ruins if for me.

Bottle: #235 Alaskan brewed beer rating, finally after 16 month I’ve finally tied for third. Pours a thick chocolate brown with a whispery head that disappears. Strong bourbon nose that lingers. Lots of dark fruit with wood and bourbon hints. Finish is malty and strong alcohol warming.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Clear, dark ruby ale with a small, fluffy, khaki head that’s gone in a flash… Zap! The aroma is malty, fruity and earthy - molasses, chocolate, toasted oak, coconut, vanilla and bourbon are standouts. The flavor is a decently balanced marriage of dark chocolate and dark, dried fruits, deeply roasted malts, vanilla, wood and mild smoke. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes smoky, rich and malty with a kiss of sourmash. World class effort. Thanks go out to JW77 for sharing this rarity!

Huge thanks to JW77 for bringing this one out of his stash for us at the Miami Throwdown 2010. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Nose is bourbon, malt, fruit, and yeast. Flavor is similar with a huge amount of complexity. This man must have a beer genie under his fridge: you just tell it what you want, and there it is. Thanks, John.

Enjoyed at a recent BA/RB tasting... Bottle poured ruby/mahogany with a thin white head. Aroma of fruits, yeast, and malts. Oaky, nutty, fruity, and lots of raisins-like characters. Light alcohol tones supported by earthy, sugary candy.

draft at brouwers. nitro, alas. pours nearly black with beautiful ruby edges and a dense, creamy, surging, settling tan head. prototypical nitro. beautifully integrated nose...like bourbon soaked dates and figs, with some oaky vanilla. creamy medium body, nitro flat. dates, figs, bourbon, and vanilla mid palate. lingering sweet fruity finish.

Draft @ Midnight Sun; nitro pour; this and sloth on draft were both big surprises during the visit; dense dark brown with creamy white head; boozy notes of creamy vanilla, dark fruit and cookies at first; bourbon, dates, lots of sweet candy malts; quite sticky in the finish with oaky bourbon, caramel and dried dates; a little spice and tobacco too; quite yummy overall though I think the nitro covers up the aromas a little bit; I believe a new batch is coming out in bottles, so I’ll be very eager to try this again w/ some bottling conditioning as opposed to the nitro pour

Draft at Midnight Sun. Dark amber cola with creamy but small beige head. Sweet red apple, tobacco, caramel, raisins, cola, and no loss of bourbon. Light but creamy tight creamy feel. Apple, graham crackers, pie spice, biscuit. Interesting take on the base beer, very smooth and balanced with the abv well hidden. Glad to have had this in such a first class place.

general belgian flavor with stronger alcohol flavor- it may be from the bourbon infusion. Woody. Bottle thanks to either JW77, Daknole, or Ryan.
