COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This version of Monk’s Mistress - aged in American Oak Barrels - takes seduction to the next level. Its dark, daunting flavors become softer, rounder and more fascinating as they meld with toasted oak and its prior tenant. This temptation is beyond irresistible.

Bottle, 07/25/2012. Pours deep brown, coarse-bubbled beige head, curtain lacing. Aroma opens with nice notes of vanilla and oak, brown sugar with dark fruits- berries, some cherry. Taste is brown malts, nutty, oak and chocolate, pleasant raisin vinous character coating the tongue. Medium palate, silky smooth. Really enjoyed this one, wish there was more.

Bomber at City Beer. Dark brown in color with a lasting light beige head. Nice aroma of dark fruits and anise with roast and some slight Belgian notes. Very good complex flavor. Berries, prune, and overripe fruits, roasted malt, and oak. Medium-full body with smooth mouthfeel and medium-low carbonation. Very good stuff, more mellow than the regular version for sure.

Bottle from the generous Ira - thanks mans! Pours a clear and very dark red with a frothy tan head. Aroma is oak, must, toasted malt, candied sugar, muffled unidentifiable spices, and a light clove like yeast smell on the finish. Taste is sweet malt up front with a fair of of spice and bite from the alcohol. There is some bitterness as well with thick, dark fruit flavors (maybe plum). Sipper for sure. Enjoyable.

Always a treat to get a Midnight Sun beer. One of the most consistently entertaining breweries in existence in my mind. Syrupy raisin flavor. Spice and wood aroma. Incredibly complex malt texture and body.
