COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This version of Monk’s Mistress - aged in American Oak Barrels - takes seduction to the next level. Its dark, daunting flavors become softer, rounder and more fascinating as they meld with toasted oak and its prior tenant. This temptation is beyond irresistible.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits as well as a light note of wood, leading to a dry woody finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours a clear orangey brown with a lacing off-white head. Surprisingly neutral aroma - a little dark fruit. Solid body, sweet overripe dark fruits and brown sugar. Only a vague trace of the oak barrels. 120910

22oz bottle -

Aroma - dark fruit, rummy raisins, spices, brown sugar and nougat.

Appearance - dark brown/cherry wood like body with a huge 2" creamy head, nice retention.

Taste - lots of dark fruit/raisins in the flavor, brown sugar, a bit of woody bitterness, vanilla, toffee...nice.

Palate - medium/full bodied, slightly sticky, sweet finish with a bit of a zing from the alcohol

Overall - glad to see the Bay Area now stocking Midnight Sun products. Most of their line-up is solid, and this provides another beer to back up that claim. Very solid and quite enjoyable.

nbutler brought this back from alaska and shared with the crew 6/6/10. auburn brown pour with a small tannish head. really yeasty aroma... very warming... along with raisins/cherries/vinous/pit fruit, brown sugar, peppery spice and floral hops. lots of vanilla in the flavor and tannins on the finish... in between are notes of cherries, slight nuttiness, red wine, toffee, malt, flowers and yeast. it is really dry and equally as tasty as the original. 8/4/8/3/16/3.9+

Bottle shared by Kan! Poured a near clear brown with a yellow brown head that dissipated to the edge. Aroma was full of sweet grains with some dark fruits and a bit of oak. Flavor had more dark fruit with caramel and sweet dark grains coming on towards the finish with a hint of oak. A bit off from me.

22oz bottle from... Pours a dark caramel cola brown with lighter reddish brown edges and a thin white to off-white head... Aroma of dark fruit raisins and plums with very minimal oak ... Flavors are very much centralized on dark fruits and caramel malt with a mild degree of oak which adds a tangy semi-tart finish. Doesn’t do too much for me overall.
