Pours black with a smallish tan head that falls away very quick leaving a thin solid layer of tan foam cover the beer. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, pumpkin, spice and oak. Flavor is very much the same, roasted malt, chocolate and pumpkin are up front, vanilla, oak and bitter sweet chocolate in the finish. This is a very complex smooth drinking beer, everything just seems to be going right with this one.
I love it! This is exactly what a pumpkin beer should be all about and the oak aging just seals the deal for me. awesome!

Taste is smooth, rich, and creamy. Nice spice balance and very sweet and delicious. Not much vegetable, pumpkin character. Some wood and creamy chocolate and vanilla taste too. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 18, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black, body with a fleeting fizzy light brown head that remained as a thin ring. The nose is just beautiful. Says it right there in the name: Chocolate, pumpkin, and oak all blending seamlessly. Great subtle spices play off of the chocolate malt really well. Just a little bit of oakiness. Beautiful complex and softly subtle flavor, the cocoa powder and pumpkin lead the way, but the nutmeg and clove work wonders on the back end. Very light on the oak, just a subtle raw wood taste on the finish before the cocoa powder comes on and lingers forever. Medium bodied with one of the softest textures that I can remember. Perfect gentle carbonation. This is just s beautiful beer. JohnC (2247), Mission Viejo, California, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours tar-black with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Excellent retention. The aroma is fantastic chocolaty decadence engulfed by autumn spices – cinnamon, clove, nutmeg – and real pumpkin with a woody, vanilla component that pushes my olfactory system way over the top. Not quite the aroma of CCB’s Good Gourde, but pretty darned close. Ultra full-bodied with a satiny mouthfeel and gentle carbonation. The flavor is luxuriant, sweet and buttery with notes of brown sugar, graham and cinnamon. Despite all the residual sugar, at no point does the taste become cloying… thanks to the time spent mellowing in oak and sufficient bitterness provided by carbonous black malt and aged hops. It’s like drinking a liquid S’more with a dab of pumpkin pie filling stuffed amongst the chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker. Major kudos to ygtbsm94 for making it possible for me to try this world class pumpkin porter! AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA

Super smooth, rich mouthfeel. Fantastic flavors of rich, sweet chocolate, vanilla, malty spicy pumpkin pie, with some blackened malt bitterness to finish. Only Pumpkin brew better than this is a fresh draft pour of the un - oaked ICPP; looking forward to that next month. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA
