beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Dec 22, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with CaptainCougar. Pours a cloudy gold with a thin off-white head that faded to an uneven film after two sips and completely disappeared shortly thereafter. Lots of citrus and pine in the aroma. The flavor is frankly a bit of a disappointment. Very weak malt up front, which is then quickly washed over with pine and grapefruit pith. Quite bitter at the finish. This is a very unbalanced beer that is probably a joy for the hopheads, but not for me. kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2008 22 oz bottle, via bu11zeye. Pours a beautiful slightly hazy dark gold body with a frothy one inch off white head that retained for a good long time. Great citrusy hop nose with some bready and biscuity malts. Aggressively bitter flavor with lots of grapefruit and citrus rind, very pithy. Hefty bready malt backbone that complements the bright hoppiness nicely. Nice Simcoe presence. Medium bodied with a slight resiny stickiness on the finish. Soft gentle fizzy carbonation that lends it a slightly creamy texture up front. Very nice beer, strongly balanced towards the hops, this would please any hophead. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2008 Bottle shared by ogglethorp. Orange-red pour with a white head. Aroma of citrus, grass, light biscuit malt. Flavors of bitter citrus, lemon rind, and light sweet malt. Medium body, bitter, with a resiny bitter finish. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Golden sheen, creamy head, very thick lacing. Aroma is very floral, piney, creamy vanilla, nice bitter touch on it. Extremely bitter flavor, a bit cloying, pine, and a floral finish. Has a touch of oxidation to it, but still very bitter and hoppy. Not very quaffable methinks. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a one finger white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops backed up by sweet malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pours copper with a big, thick, white, lasting head. Big hoppy aroma is mostly pine. Flavor is sweet for a split second and then bitterness settles in. Pine and bitterness cover the tongue like tree sap. Bitterness tends to cover everything else. Not very complex. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA May 22, 2008 22oz bottle. Hop bomb for sure. Floral aroma. Plenty of bitter citrus and a touch of cedar. Smatterings of pine resin, but only a bit. Pours a heavy looking dark hazy copper with a thin white head. Flavor is all sorts of bitter. Lacking the nuances of any particular hop flavor though. Slightly soapy. Oily, resinous, bitter hops. Malt? Nah... Just bitter, bitter hops. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA May 12, 2008 I have to say this was terribly disappointing. Perhaps a hop head would like this more than myself, but the human tongue can only taste 100 IBUs! Christ, this made my tongue numb, I felt like I was drinking pine-sol mized with freshly squuezed hop juice. The nose should have given it away, extremely skunky bong water aroma. I thought this was horrid.
