3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MatSciGuy (893) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 23, 2009
[Bottle] shared by tytoanderso. Pours a hazy gold with a small whitish head. Aroma is awesome, and one of the more unique beers I’ve smelled. Sweet honey, mango, a little bit of wheat, lemon zest, and some orange. Flavor really loses it though - there’s really not much hops to be had, which was pretty disappointing. Mostly just a bunch of bitterness with a little bit of grassiness and lemon.

22oz bottle. Excellent aroma. Dripping with juicy hop goodness. Pineapple and mango juice. Orange rind, just a hint of pine resin. This one is definitely hop forward. Fresh and lively. Some nailpolish (but we’ll overlook that slight aromatic flaw). Pours a mostly clear amber/copper with a bright white head. Flavor, however doesn’t come close to matching the aroma. Mostly just dry and bitter. Non expressive hops. Not much in the way of wheat… maybe on the texture perhaps. Earthy and grassy lacking the brightness of the aroma. Firm and slightly chalky on the palate with an abrasive, bitter finish. Thanks Tim!

(bottle, thanks tytoanderso!) Pours gold with a scant white head. Strong citrus aroma of tangerine, grapefruit peel, and some slight pine. I also think the wheat plays a role in the aroma, as I picked up a light hint of what I can only describe as lemon pledge. The taste is faintly sweet right away, but then that quickly switches to a strongly bitter flavor or grapefruit peel with hints of pepper. The mouthfeel was medium. The aroma was pretty good, but the flavor was just too one-dimensional.

From the bottle pours a very nice amber, perfect clarity, with a tall white head. Big floral citrus hop nose. Hops come of big and resiny, lots of pine and citrus. I don’t pick up a ton of wheat, soft caramel flavors. Very smooth body, dominated by the hops, bitter and crisp. Pretty delicious brew, but just a hop showcase.

22. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Pours a hazy dark orangeish amber. Dense but shallow off-white head. Huge tropical fruit nose: grapefruit, pineapple, mango. Creamy medium body. Piney, grapefruity, toasty mid-palate with a big resiny finish. These huge hops combine with the dense, somewhat mild but still perceptible brown-bread wheat notes so well. It’s just a natural match. Great beer.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2009 Clear amber with a white head. Sweet, pungent, fresh ganja bud aroma. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Big ass bitter grapefruit hop flavor on a neutral malt base, only wheat i found here was in the smooth texture. Hop heads may love this brew, but it is a bit off balance for my palate.

Very nice balanced hop nose and flavor..a hint of the wheat comes through all the citrus and spicy fragrances.
